You see, if you have free-will in a free-world, you pay the price for your actions. But if you don't have free-will in a determined-world, you don't pay for your actions. But what are conditions of the predetermined? Why are they so lucky or unlucky? Or in-between?(lucky and unlucky). What are their rewards? What are their punishments? What price do they pay for their actions or non-actions?
The price they pay is their life to fate? The illusion of having control in their lives? Not sure; good question.
but you gain greatly from everything that comes from experiencing the world with a sense of freedom. but you tend to follow the crowd, do what's expected of you, accept what you're told, have no need to become more than you are.
How could you be so arrogant to even assume that we have any free-will? We live by faith; we don't have the ability to know whether we are the observer or the observed. So any and all conclusions drawn from a lack of knowledge of the aforementioned, is moot. The bad kind of moot. As in it's useless to argue. WRONG! In a determinist world, you can't follow the crowd, do what's expected of you, accept what you're told or aspire to be anything, because you have no control over your life.
Steady. Don't be so quick to jump onto your high horse. If you'll notice, my answer is based on a supposition: If you have no control over your life, then you're probably having to do what you're told.
The only freedom in this determined world is the freedom to be cognizant and conscious of ur shackles to its indissoluble regulation's...
... with that being said, people need to stop inter-changing "free action" with "free will". Free action exists --- free will doesn't.
"Men think themselves free on account of this alone, that they are conscious of their actions and ignorant of the causes of them."
Unless you fancy a bit of anarchy. It might not last long, depending on how determined things are, and how quickly the regulations are enforced, but you might get a sense of what it's like. Might give you a taste for a bit more.
What about it? I was refering to the hypothetical situation of having free-will, as you supposed. In your answer you assumed we had free-will, and I responded accordingly. I'm just stumped as to why you used [^^^] that as a defence, because it makes no sense. So are you going to object to the statement you tried to avoid? If you have no control over your life then you can't do anything, because you are just along for the ride, right?
Your assuming he's arrogant, do you know that as a fact, or is that logical for you to jump to conclusions? Tell me you ever meet the guy? You talk to him face to face, step into his shoes, and see what life was in his perspective. No one has the right to judge anyone, not even if you empathize even a little bit. I'm telling you lonly, you need to back off, before you say something stupid, and get yourself banned...
@Areskunex The discussion isn't dead. And if you have nothing better to post than provocations then I suggest you just hang up your mouse. You've added absolutely nothing to the discussion. And lastly, I'm stumped as to why you even took offence to an innocent comment that wasn't even directed at you. I tried pointing it out to you in the " There appears to be some confucion thread" that ignoring an argument and attacking the opposition for perceived sleights isa ridiculous practice. Did you even read what I posted? No you didn't because you want to have the two of us, esseff and me, flame it out. For any mods reading, please look at this guys previous activity for inciting flames. You're a conundrum, you know? You talk about jumping to conclusions, yet you are the one jumping to conclusions. You talk about not judging others, yet you are judging me. What are you even doing?
If you hadn't noticed, I started this discussion. And your the one provoking. I'm just pointing it out, what? Don't like being seen doing anything wrong? Well maybe you should stop doing the wrong things... It's funny that you would snidely describe your comment as innocent, being that you use your 'innocent' comments in vicious context. Trying to incite me to the mods? You really are as disgusting as you seem. Being that you troll almost every post, you can't respect no ones beliefs, which the rules clearly state, don't disrespect others. And you always make yourself out to be innocent though you stated yourself in another post that your intentions are to rid ignorant beliefs from this forum because they're 'illogical'. And as for me trying to incite a flame-war, that was not my intention, and esseff probably knows how to react better than me, just backing him up because of your unrighteous indigent attacks.
STRAWMAN ALERT!!! Arescunex, can you please refrain from using strwman arguments? It's ruining your credibility. Everyone can read that you are clearly misinterpreting what I am saying. I never attacked esseff, and I don't know why I'm even arguing with you, because this is just what you want right? As I predicted in the "As there appears to be some confusion" thread, as soon as you start seeing that you are wrong, you start calling me a troll. Is this a contest to see who can call the other a troll the fastest? If it is, I lose, because I ain't playing this game with you anymore. I leave you with the soulful words of, my brother, Cee-Lo: FORGET you! Atroll is someone who posts off topic and inflammatory comments in a thread. If you can please direct your eyes to your computer screen, you'll see that I have posted something that relates to the topic, and you have not. Sleep well my friend. I hope you find a good resting place under that bridge of urs.
He's delusional. See his sig and his "Life is meaningless" thread, as well as every other one of his posts, for further evidence. Comes in, antagonizes, then plays innocent "Oh what, I can't disagree?? He was just being illogical and I was pointing it out." Same old shit every post of his. Its pretty funny, except the fact that every thread he does it in becomes him vs someone/multiple people on some ridiculous tangent.
Oh you mean like how I antagonised myself in this thread, right? No. Arexnexus started it. He addressed a comment that wasn't even addressed to him, and low and behold, found a way to take offence to it. And as I have predicted time and again, he called me a troll without justifying his reasons therefore. And the greatest irony is that you, Jacob, accuse me of derailing discussions, when you are participating in the derailment of a discussion. What have you and Aresnxus added to the discussion? Nothing, but whining. And I'm sure that calling someone delusional for expressing their opinion on a matter or using a movie quote in their sig, qualifies as disrespect. I'm sure that's against forum policy. Mods please take note. You don't even know the context of the quote, but you use it as evidence. Some people, you know?
