What nutrients should i use??

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by tyroncurtis42, Jun 30, 2017.

  1. Hi guys, just started to grow my own medicine. But not sure what nutrients i should be using. Also how often should i be using these nutrients? thanks in advance for any help.

  2. Depends on medium, strain etc..I used Canna Terra Veg and Flora (Soil grow) and was pleased, so I stay with them..Pricey stuff though. Canna was recommended to me 4 months ago and I grew some nice plants using it plus Ginormous bud enhancer later in flower..Backstrap Molasses is a great additive that feeds the microbes in the soil, not the plant itself.

  3. I am using " gold label special mix light. " its a mix of perlite, cocos coir, and a few other things. The strain is " Afghani Regular. " at least thats what it says on the packet.

  4. General Hydroponics - MaxiBloom

  8. Listen to @MickFoster..He knows about Coco grows!!:)

  9. I grow in coco since my first seed, and i always use the Hesi line, not expensive, there powerzyme is rated 1# on market with good results roots are always healthy, their supervit is questionable in terms of worth the money. But overall a good decision, and with all nutes you have to take there chart with a grain of salt and always start at half the strength but i have noticed that Hesi is coming real close to what they say on their chart in terms of ml to l. Of-course growing in coco i would advise to use a ec meter, unless you are experienced enough to understand all deficiencies and react fast on them since coco shows deficiencies faster then soil.

  10. What deficiencies would the OP have if using a quality nutrient line with all of the micro and macro elements required for a healthy plant? Unless you're talking about a magnesium or calcium deficiency, which is common in coco and easily fixed by either using tap water or cal/mag.

Well that depends on your tapwater my tap water is around 200ppm 0.1 to 0.2 ec that wont help at all you need hard water For that and to check that you need an ec meter wich is always advised because you can do a slurry test in coco if you have problems, to see if you really need a flush, becausd flushing on general if not nececary will do you more harm then good on coco. But overall if you grow in steps let's say you poar in 3 mill to 1 liter and you have 0.6 ec and you still get signs of yellowing means you need to up the dosage for N so add abit more to get 0.7 and so on. And so there are more scenarios. But overall you are right Mg and Ca are the biggest deficiencies you will notice if you add everything right.

  12. My tap water is 150 ppms according to a water testing lab (I've never owned an EC meter), and I have never had a mag or cal deficiency and I don't use Cal-Mag. I don't know what you mean by you need harder water than 200ppm's, never heard of that. I also never heard of doing a slurry test in coco - thought that was a test done in soil. If you feed coco properly - to 20% run off everyday - checking the EC is not necessary - I only check the pH of the run off once a week. I don't own an EC meter nor do I own a pH meter and I've been growing in coco for over 10 years.

You have been growing in coco for over 10/years but you don't know that a slurry test is the only way to get a 100% accurate read on PH and EC of your coco medium since the run-off will be filtered by the coco. First of all 200 ppm won't fix any MG orr CA in for a grown up plant in week 5 flower that most of the time show MG def in coco, you can add all the soft wather you want but that won't make a dent to your MG craving plant. And for ths record 20% run-off is overrated in coco 5 to 10% will do the trick just as fine 20% is waste of nutes but hey you grow for over 10/years on coco I bet you knew that aswel. Aditionally a EC meter is not a necessary tool to grow in coco I never said that, it's a handy tool if you want to feed your plants the precise amount without guessing. Which can be very useful for new growers, which was my point in the first place.

  14. Why do you always have to be a sarcastic dick when somebody disagrees with you or questions what you say? I yield over a pound of weed off of 2 plants every grow which keeps me very happy. You can respond if you like, but I'm not going to get into a pissing match with you. Peace.

  15. You're the one getting pissed and calling me a dick mate. You should look at yourself first, before name calling people, it just confused me for someone claiming to grow in coco for over 10 years not knowing about a slurry test in coco, which is pretty important to take a accurate reading of your PH, so it means in that 10 years you took filtered readings of your coco runoff which is false measurement reading. This forum is to learn from each other, and if you are unable to accept that then go cry me a river for all i care.
