  1. this is a hard question to answer. in my opinion a musical genius is of course someome that writes their own lyrics and of course plays their own instrument. bonus points for them doing their own production, mixing, editing and whatnot in the studio.
we need more of these types of musicians these days

  2. just ask kanye west

  3. haha, gna seem like such a fan-girl, but Damon albarn and his team (the gorillaz) are pretty genius for me.

  4.

  5. Innovator... Complete understanding of multiple aspects of the art...

i guess thorough understanding of music theory would contribute

  7. op has the lowest qualifications for musical genius i've ever heard

  8. They gotta like fishsticks

  9. I don't think a musical genius needs to know much. He or she is just someone who when given the chance to produce or create music, creates a masterpiece with notes and sounds that truly showcases the potential for amazing audible art.

But I don't really like the term musical genius, I prefer musically talented, or creative, because so much of it is opinion.

  11. I have done all the above but I don't consider myself a genius.

People like Jimi Hendrix covering blackbird live 3 hours after the vinyl got released, or Mozart writing down the entirety of an opera he went to see as a kid from memory... these are the people I consider musical geniuses.
