What is your success?; rockwool seeding

  1. Hello, I've successfully completed one grow so far. Time for another magnificent mission...I got a bunch of seedlings to come spawn, but I was wondering how I could ensure my chances of success higher.

When you guys seed em in rockwool, do you take pieces from the rockwool corners to cover the hole? do you make them very light or try to split them like a pizza so the seed comes through easier? Is it better to give the buried seed zero light or else it may stop trying to push to the top if it gets some? Is it better to bury them with a longer germized root (without dmging) so they have more struture and balance?

I've got some white widow seeds and I'd hate to lose em during the first stage...I haven't seen much information about this, sorry. Any hardcore suggestions would be awesome! [IMG] Thanks

  2. Hey man, im not sure about rockwool. I plan on using it for my next grow from seed. DO NOT use peat pellets unless you have to. I mean there is nothing terrible wrong with them but the stay way too soggy. and they are a pain. But i guess growing from seed is a pain in general!!

From now on i just plan on growing mothers from all new strais i buy. my firs grow i used 90 kali mist from seed using jiffy pellets. It was such a headache. I never want to grow that much from seed again!!!!!!

  3. Just remember if you use rockwool, you must pre-treat it with rockwool conditioner for 24hrs, both methods work, you dont need to stuff a piece of rockwool in the whole, you just don't turn the light on until they pop threw the cube.

  4. Hmm hmm hmm

  5. I never pre treat my RW other than soaking for 24 hours in distilled water. I tried seeds in RW once and got results but it takes alot of patience wating for them to sprout through the top. I lost patience and ended up splitting the cube but i had roots.
I use RW for cuttings now but prefer to germinate through paper towels and then plant in soil. With the RW, i dont use the hole in the cube but make a new one when its time to plant. Temps are the most important thing. Keep the warm and humid until they sprout.

  6. whatsup threepac! i am in EXACTLY the same situation as you, i have white widow seeds germinating as we speak and 2 rockwool cubes, theyv been soaking overnight, just in tapwater though so hope thats ok, i wasnt sure about transplanting them into soil or rockwool, so i guess my question is the same, still not sure what to do!

  7. The way i do it with rockwool, soak the seeds in water on a paper towel in darkness, when you see em sprout, put them in your Pre treatec rockwool. Pull some stuff of the corners to cover them up ...

  8. I use rockwool to germinate all the time, just pre-soak for 24 hours then pop the seed into the little pre-made hole in the cube and just move a few strands over the top that is all you need to do. Don`t push them too far down, just under the surface I find works for me, keep in a heated propagator or normal one under your light, and in a few days hey presto !!!

  9. I find that if you use Jiffy peat pellets it works fine!! I usually have a huge success rate with them. Just make sure you soak them real good the first time and make sure they get spongy. I find that it is damn near impossible to keep them over watered as long as you have heat on them somehow. I use a heat pad designed for putting underneath the seeds. I put them in a humidity tent and just wait. Plant the seed about double the size of the seed into the peat, no deeper!
