What is this buggy thing?

  3. Crawling on? It appears to be be any of thousands of different types of small insects that live in/on soil and whose job it is to further break down organic soil matter - similar to what bacteria and fungus do but on a larger scale.

    I haven’t identified it but there are many different types of insects that feed on decomposing organic matter - take a look at a compost heap sometime. Without them and bacteria to break down organic matter into its basic forms plant’s couldn’t feed. They break down the soil into usable nutrients.

  5. Looks like a spider mite to me. That doesn't mean it's bad though. There are good and bad mites.

    The only bad mite that is really easy to identify are the spotted spider mites because ..... they have spots.

    Having said that it could be anything.
