CBD Tinctures What is the difference between CBD oil and Tinctures?

Discussion in 'CBD Oil' started by charliex88, Jan 19, 2024.

  1. CBD oil and tinctures are terms that are often used interchangeably, but there are some differences between the two, primarily in their composition and how they are made?

  2. RE our homebrew concoctions "Tinctures are made with ethanol" which is the same ethyl alcohol as in your beer, so don't fear. ;) "The oil methods" use infusion" don't carve anything in stone. The big diff for me is the alcohol versions hit me MUCH faster 15 - 30 min & my BMI is huge. Oils take a minimum of an hour on an empty stomach, with food??? could be hours & by then you have taken more... ;)

  3. CBD oil and tinctures are both derived from the cannabis plant, but their extraction methods and uses differ. CBD oil is extracted from hemp using a CO2 process and is typically mixed with a carrier oil for oral consumption. Tinctures, on the other hand, involve steeping cannabis flowers in alcohol or glycerin to extract cannabinoids. Tinctures are often used sublingually for faster absorption. While both offer potential health benefits, it's essential to understand their distinctions before use.

  4. Interesting. I use a really strong ass CBD/CBG oil. I drop it under my tongue and hold it there. I can feel it, especially if I'm high on THC, but really tired -- more stoned, I guess. It really lifts me up. If I just ate and I'm really high and want to go to sleep, but I need to clean up the kitchen (ants!), I do a few drops under my tongue and I can get it done. The combo kind of reminds me of the old skool brick weed from the 80s that was really uplifting and energetic. It was sativa, but also full of CBD. They didn't breed it out. It was pretty much wild hemp full of seeds and stems that the compressed into bricks. Oh, so sad, the 80s weed was...

  5. Sub lingual (under the tongue) absorbs extremely fast BUT the size of the dose is extremely small. Oil is not a good choice for absorption and the dose would need to be very strong since the dose in ml's is so small. Also do you want a mouth coated in oil esp if it does not taste good. Let us know if you figure it out. I do not use cbg so...
As usual if it works for you??? :metal:

  6. CBD oil is made with a carrier oil like MCT or hemp seed oil, while tinctures use alcohol as a base. The alcohol helps with faster absorption but can taste stronger.

  7. CBD oil is usually made with a carrier oil like MCT or hemp seed oil, while tinctures use alcohol for extraction. Tinctures may have a stronger taste due to the alcohol.
