what is the best way to "flush"

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by homegrown998, Dec 10, 2007.

  1. the plant is in a small plastic cup with holes in the side and bottum.
  2. All flushes are really done the same way, as far as I know. Pour clean water into the soil, let it drain out, repeat. Keep doing this for a while. With a small cup like you describe, I don't think that you'd need a ton of time for a flush.
  3. Use pH adujsted water. Pour through three times or more the container volume (so for example three cups of water for that one cup). Pour it somewhat slowly so it all runs out the bottom, don't let the top flood.
  4. are you wanting to flush or leach?

2 different methods sometimes mistaken as the same

leachin is usually done every 3-4 weeks to get rid of any toxic salt build up whereas flushing is for the end of the plants life where you want2 rid the chemicals / nutrients, unless ure using organic soil nutes then flushing is not really needed as theres no chemicals in organic nutes;)

if its flushing then you use 3x,s the size of your pot (ie; 11 litre pot needs 33 litres flushed through 5 litre pot needs 15 litres etc.......) also FLOOD IT dont pour in like your watering you want to force the water through when flushing & when you finish the water pouring out the bottom should be nearly clear(ish)

  5. Slight disagreement with motorheed, flushing clears chemicals (including nutes, both organic and otherwise), as in a case of an emergency flush to correct nute burn.
