So I have heard of soma before, like people being addicted, and my friend has some now and he gave me a couple and said take them, what are they exactly?
really the only recreational muscle relaxers, but damnn are they awesome. You may learn the term soma coma when you take them
yeah start at two, cuz if you only take one you won't feel its effects..but when I took two, for an hour and a half, I felt like a body drunk, it was fun just to walk around
ooooooo somas are the best my friend has a hole bunch.. i have taken 4 at once and its like my whole body was numb it's alot diffrent then pain killers
I instantly think of that book whenever I hear soma. What is it about? It's a fairly fucked up novel. Humans are grown as either Alpha, Beta, etc up to Epsilon. They breed humans purposefully - alphas are cultivated to be scientists and shit, and Epsilons are deprived of oxygen to cause brain damage because they are destined to do trivial, mindless physical work. There's an orgy and a hanging too so yeah, pretty fucked up book, All of the people use soma to relax and shit and I mean everyone, they're required to or something. It would be interesting to know how many times the word soma appears in the novel and how many scenes where people take soma.
Hmmm.....sounds like an interesting book. I will look at my schools library for that monday. If i remember.
Aldous Huxley is an amazing author, and Brave New World is one of my favorites. I also loved reading "The Doors of Perception", in which he praises the mind expanding benefits of hallucinogenic drugs (mescaline in particular). I feel this quote best defines his objective in creating the fictional drug "soma" in Brave New World: “If we could sniff or swallow something that would, for five or six hours each day, abolish our solitude as individuals, atone us with our fellows in a glowing exaltation of affection and make life in all its aspects seem not only worth living, but divinely beautiful and significant, and if this heavenly, world-transfiguring drug were of such a kind that we could wake up next morning with a clear head and an undamaged constitution -- then, it seems to me, all our problems (and not merely the one small problem of discovering a novel pleasure) would be wholly solved and earth would become paradise.â€
