What is it like to have a tolerance?

Discussion in 'Beginner Cannabis Consumption & Tips' started by RedEyedJedi420, Mar 7, 2011.

  1. What are the highs like when you have a tolerance. I have heard people say smoking only makes you feel relaxed and nothing else? Please help me out here im scared to get a tolerance. lol

  2. stay away from tolerance, tolerance no good.

  3. Gaining a tolerance to dope is just like building a tolerance to anything else. It's effects will seem weaker and weaker as the tolerance increases and therefore you will need more ganja to get the job done or get baked. Also, I find as tolerance increases I burn out sooner and effects disappear sooner.

  4. Its the best thing ever when it comes to green. You could have one bowl of dank and be blown. 4 bowls of dank for me is like wayyyyyy to much. When I want to have a good feeling without being totally shot faced, I smoke about 1 green pea sized bowl. And I'm pretty baked then. I am tolerance proof... It's like smokig everyday getting higher and higher... I guess.

  5. Horrible.

  6. awful. i wish i had no tolerance at all and could save my money. i honestly feel like i dont even get 'high' any more no matter how much i smoke. the last time i was truly high i smoked 2 bowls topped with .5 of has and about .3 of keif combined

  7. have been smoking for about a year now and my tolorence has gone up very little and i smoke alot lol

  8. i could quit for a year and go back with the lowest tolerance ever, but two months max and my tolerance would literally be exactly where it is. it's crazy how quickly you can have a tolerance after you quit doing whatever for a while. so unfair!

  9. ya my highs are about the same as the first time i smoked

  10. damn..you must smoke once a week or something.

  11. I'm not going to repeat what has already been mentioned in the replies however I'll post some solutions to the issue of gaining tolerance.

The most important thing I'd like to mention is that there are several methods to enjoy marijuana which can be used to surpass the tolerance issue. To list a few off the top of my head there is the traditional combustion method i.e. using a pipe or bong and burning it and inhaling the smoke. But you also need to look to other methods of taking in the herb. For example I've noticed vaporizers give a different high, therefore your tolerance to vaporizing and inhaling vapor is much lower than say using the combustion method on a regular basis. Therefore if you haven't used a vaporizer in a decent amount of time, it can be much more effective in terms of getting you high than the combustion method. Also another option would be edibles which can give you a solid body high.

The next thing to discuss is after building up a tolerance you need to get rid of it. The way to do this is by taking a "tolerance break" aka the t break. I've read a week as being sufficient and two weeks being ideal. These suck but can be worth it (I'm actually participating in one right now).

TLDR: 1. Use cannabis in more ways than one i.e. smoking, vaping, edibles.
    2. Take a t break for 1-2 weeks of no herb and lose that tolerance.

    :smoke:

  12. nope every night i go through a quad every 2 weeks or so i tend to smoke weed til 6am sleep go to work smoke sleep hang out work smoke eat sometimes i forget to eat lol buy new glass get high repeat

  13. I'm the same fuckin' way man. I smoke daily for years now. I get as high from smoking today as I did years ago. I hear all these people talking about how much it sucks to build a tolerance, and I just don't see it happening. Guess we're lucky.

  14. here we call quads QPs and im positive thats not what you mean. I'm guessing you mean a quarter && if you've smoke a quarter a night of a year..even a week, without gaining tolerance. i feel sorry for you and your weed man

  15. yes a quarter lol here we call the quads i also vape alot to

  16. I always felt mixing up the strains I smoke every few days helps me from building up a tolerance.

  17. The more you smoke, the better your body becomes at processing THC, meaning your cannabinoid receptors can actually get you higher the more you do it. This creates a "reverse" tolerance effect such as one gains from smoking salvia. For this reason, most people actually cannot get high the first time, because their bodies just cant process the THC well enough to get high.

Another tolerance effect also exists with weed however. Your body will also have a reduced effect for THC every time you use it. This effect is more short-term than the reverse tolerance, which is why if you usually smoke every day, but then you wait a week you will get REALLY high.

I found out that the more consistantly you smoke, the more the two tolerances balance eachother out, and so thats why people who smoke every day get high just like everyone else.

  18. Building up a tolerance does suck. You'll go from one bowl to two, to three.. whatever. Take T-breaks.. and also remember that part of your high is psychological so if you are so used to being high, when you get high.. you wont feel as stoned
