What is a PERC?

It means percolated. its little holes the smoke goes through to make it even smoother.

 

Yeah it's a down pipe with a ton of little holes that make it a smoother hit. I'm suer someone on this forum has one and will post a pic.

pics and video... the perc is the thing in the middle of the tube like 4-5 inches from the bottom, it just filters the smoke through the water again

 

that's a 'diffuser'

a perc is something that people used to make coffee in, now it's just another method of bubbling smoke through water.

 

my understanding is that diffusers and percolators work on basically the same principles. when you rip a standard bong, look at the bubbles coming up. they're big, right? that means that only the outer edge of the smoke bubble is being filtered by the water, the smoke in the middle is the same as if you'd hit it out of a spoon. diffusers make the bubbles really small, so there's less smoke that doesn't touch water, and percolators basically give the smoke a second chance to be smoothed out through water filtration, if that makes any sense to you. Look at that other linked thread with pictures with that in mind, and let me know if it still doesn't make sense.

 

percf are essentaly another chamber they have a glass tree which hold the wter in and when you hit it the smoke goes though two layers of water one out the downstem and one out the glass tree in the perc and by going through all that water the smoke is cooled and filtered for a nice smooth hit if my explanation was not good enought whatch the vid i posted and that should help you understand
