I think a genius is someone who has been the first to think of a theory for a certain subject.. But a theory is a speculation, and most theorys involve science. In science, nothing can be proven, if you execute an act over and over 100 times, it still is not prooven. If it fails once then it will be false... I dont consider a person with a 300 IQ a genius, its what you do with that IQ that makes you a genius. Im sorry, im not sure if this made much sence, becouse i am high.. but i would like to know some other opinions..
So, you believe that application of intelligence is required to be a genius. You're probably right. I mean, Einstein would have never been considered a genius if he had sat around reading comics and smoking dope all day, like I do.
Yes. But some people dont use their heads, i know friends who could accomplish so much more if they only found something to put their minds on..
I remember this one quote, I forget where its from though. "Whats do geniuses and insane people have in common?" "Ordinary people don't understand them" I just thought I'd throw that in
LOL on the joke I think IQ tests are flawed to an extent. They measure a lot of things like vocabulary and math skills... Intelligence is one's ability to understand - not be a parrot. For example: Say someone can read a book once, and understand it completely; or can hear something explained one time, and then understand it and remember it forever. Now what if it takes another person 2 or 3 times of reading through the same book to fully understand it; and having the same thing explained a few more times in class (reviews or whatever), and needing outside study time to fully comprehend the same thing that the other person only needed to hear once. Who would you consider to have a higher IQ? This is how IQ tests are flawed... They don't measure your ability to understand and pick up on things... They measure a lot of what you've learned, and not what you're capable of learning.
Yup...totally agree...I don't like IQ tests because they only measure specific traits like mathemathical logical thinking, some language logic and a bit of memory (what's supposed to be things everyone knows). A high IQ is not what helps you in this world...it's human relations and empathy that gets you somewhere... And btw...IQ tests are so much flawed for specific groups like immigrants. I for example could never again take a single IQ test that would be correct. Simply because I lack a great deal of norwegian history (having lived in Germany for 20 years), so I couldn't take it in norwegian. Neither could I take'em in german, since I haven't been so up to date with the last 10 years' events there. Social intelligence is what counts if you ask me (I don't claim having it, though )
You know, you can get online and take 5 different IQ tests, and get 5 different answers, ranging, like 20 points or more! This pretty-much proves that IQ tests are flawed.
Nah...just that online tests are bullshit. If you take a supervised test at a psychologist, they're pretty accurate. As for online tests, they're really bullshit...have taken many of'em and the most funny one was when I was so drunk and stoned, I could barely read...and still got 112 points. So I guess I'm pretty smart when I 'm drunk Please don't ask Zylark to confirm this last statement lol
