What instrument should I learn?

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by Roaring, Sep 25, 2009.

  1. Basically, I need a instrument that I could learn while high because I have nothing better to do than learn an instrument. Idea please :)

  2. learn the piano. once you know how to play that well youll be able to move on to any other instrument and learn to play.

  3. Piano definitely. If you have access to one, it is one of the most important instruments to learn because it is the easiest way to show a beginner the sound of each note, as opposed to something like a trumpet, which is harder to show on paper as well as the piano. A beginner can easily gain an ear for music with notes just by remembering their location on piano. Not only that, but contrary to popular belief, it is one of the easiest instruments to play since it only involve pressing buttons, as opposed to other instruments such as the trumpet ( playing notes involve blowing and pressing a certain way), flute (blowing a certain way through a certain hole). I started with the piano, and having gained a memory of all the sounds of the notes, I can now pretty much play any instrument as soon as I learn to execute each note.

  4. Bass is a good one too.

  5. drums.

    there bad ass while high

but if your looking for portability, i would suggest piano (keyboard)

i personally play guitar, and its fun but after a while its a bust with out an amp or pedals, whereas with a keyboard you could do all the weird sounds keyboards can make now a days anywhere from grand piano to like jungle sounds and shit.

    ya dig?

  6. ^+Rep :)

Hell yeah. Of course I'm gonna say drums LOL

  7. piano.. once you learn that, all the others will come easier.

  8. acoustic guitar. only 3 steps to learning it:

    learn how to play chords

sing around a campfire when you're blazed

    get laid

  9. If you're serious about it, be sure to invest time into music theory.

    Have fun with it too,
Perhaps pick up the didgeridoo. :D

  10. Seconded.

  11. Piano mannn :) its a good first place to start and get a good hold of everything. otherwise id say guitar, its very fun and lots of thing to do. learn all your scales and theory (;

and one thing i dont like is you cant just "learn" a instrument you gotta lots of dedication towards it and all that junk haha :)

  12. He's definetely got this one down. I play guitar and bass and he just convinced me I should learn to play the piano. But if you really hate music with piano and are into heavy rock then learn guitar bass or drums. Banjo's really fun too, but it requires alot of dedication. Also, the mandolin, fucking trippy as hell and not all too difficult.

  13. Well Ive been playin drums for 8 years or so and I still love em. My favorite thing to do is come home blazed and jam for like 4 hours :p

  14. harmonica go! lol

  15. It depends i would say either go with Drums or choose between a guitar and bass. if you are more inclined to drums go for it there fun as hell. but if you want a stringed insturment id probly go with a bass itd be easier to learn

  16. i meen dude do ya REALLY have to ask a mofuckin 6 string for life /thread.

  17. ide have to say guitar man. its the easiest and quickest way in my opinion to grasp the basics of music, and its much more versatile and less intimidating than a piano. it was my first instrument and i took off with it really fast.

  18. Or you could be original and learn how to play the bassoon, oboe, slide trumpet, saxophone, or some other instrument that you can't bullshit talent on.

Saying you are going to "learn" bass/guitar/piano/drums means (in laymen's terms) that you can sort of play it, but never really master it. Unless you want to prove me wrong :devious:
