What If Your Plants Are Showing Multiple Deficiencies?

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by NL x Skunk, Jun 17, 2013.

  1. Let me start off by saying i'm using Mills Basis A & B which are:

    Basis A: 3-0-6
    Total Nitrogen (N) 3.0%
    (Nitrate Nitrogen)
    Soluble Potash (K2O) 6.0%
    Calcium (Ca) 4.5%

    Basis B: 0-4-3
    Available Phosphate (P2O5) 4.0%
    Soluble Potash (K2O) 3.0%
    Magnesium (Mg) 1.0%
    Molybdenum (Mo) 0.001%

I'm also using Root Excelurator, which i've heard great things about. And i started using Cal-Mag when i started noticing deficiencies which i presumed to be caused by using RO water without any Cal-Mag but now that i take the time to actually read the ingredients of my nutrients i see that they do in fact contain Calcium and Magnesium, so do i even need Cal-Mag?

I wish i could provide pictures but i really dont have a good enough camera to capture the deficiencies, so allow me to do my best to explain.

I'm using a hydroponic system, it's sort of DWC mixed with some aeroponic sprayers spraying the roots. It's 6 buckets hooked up to each other and a reservoir, recirculating system. I've been having problems since the beginning with temps and in turn i've developed root rot. I've gotten it under control by throwing frozen water bottles in there and using the Root Excelurator which has beneficial stuff in it to help prevent root rot and just helps with the overall health of the roots.

    Anyways,
my pH is 5.8-6.0 on average,
    my PPM is usually 800-900,
And yet they are STILL showing signs of deficiencies from every angle.
I've been pulling my freaking hair out over this for the past couple weeks it is the most stressful thing to deal with.
I've never before been unable to correct a deficiency.

And the craziest part is, they are all being fed the exact same way, but they all are showing different deficiencies!!

My only possible guesses are that they are either too big for their damaged root structures that are trying to repair themselves which in turn isnt allowing enough nutrients to them, because they are rather large bushes with rather small root structures, OR my nutrients are just shit.

I have no idea what to do to correct this, they are still growing bigger and bigger every day even with all of these problems and they are almost too big at this point to where i NEED to put them into flowering very very soon or they're going to out grow my tent. BUT i do not want to put them into flowering with all these deficiencies!

List of deficiency signs they are showing:
Slight purpling of the veins and stems
Necrotic brown/yellow spots on fan leaves which spread until the entire leaf is crunchy dry and dead
Curling skinny yellow tips on new growth
Certain leaves are turning like lime-green/yellow

I feel like i've just tried every thing i can at this point, i'm really starting to panic. I need help, bad.

Multiple different deficiencies across multiple different plants with the same medium and feeding regime? I'd say a pH issue. I've never done DWC and know very little about hydro (I'm an organics guy and don't care for hydro at all), but if possible I'd give them a break and just use plain, pH balanced water for a while and see if they start looking better.

List of deficiency signs they are showing:

Slight purpling of the veins and stems.... Check your room temps are not falling to low at night, some strains go red naturally

Necrotic brown/yellow spots on fan leaves which spread until the entire leaf is crunchy dry and dead....FLUSH

Curling skinny yellow tips on new growth ..............FLUSH

Certain leaves are turning like lime-green/yellow........FLUSH

Never be afraid to flush, it happens naturally in nature, I hate doing it myself, I get soaked, but Flush with 3 times the volume of the pot with air temp. Ph neutral water, allow to recover in dim light 1x day, no food until you see a positive improvement 2 weeks?

  4. Notice the chart... you should not allow your ph to drift above 5.8. On ther chart you'll see that P and K are locked out at a ph of 6. Notice also that your uptake of Ca and Mn are slipping also, so correction is in order, and you'll need to make sure that your nutes contain Mn, available in misuscule amounts but necessary.
