Like literally, hit from the side by an earthquake. The primary waves are compression waves, and can therefore propagate through gases. So if you were standing next to a sharp cliff in air, and that cliff has earthquake P waves heading towards the cliff's edge, upon exiting the rock in the cliff, how would the new sound waves affect you? Would it just be low frequency sounds, or would it be strong enough to become a shock wave and physically affect you?
