What gives the police a warrant to search your house?

    :confused::confused:What reasons in the state of MA woul,d a police officer be able to search your house? What events could lead to a warrant?

    A judge has to sign a warrant that police officers take to him.

    If the evidence is strong then he will sign off on it.

    My buddy (lives in MA, same with me) just got 1.5 years. They got a house warrant because they had a hand to hand picture. Sucks.

    Yeah...A kid he sold to told the police the time and place they were meeting and when the kid handed him the drugs the cops snapped a picture from a van..

    It sucks I miss the kid.

    i think he's talking about an actual photograph with him and someone else.. exchanging marijuana. that's what it sounds like anyways, though i suppose i could somehow be really far off :p

    The police can give a warrant if they have probably cause to enter your home

    for example, suspicious activity coming from and out of your house.

    It takes more than just the smell of pot to be considered probable cause.

    They do not need anything. If they don't have any of the above they will make it up.
