Living in The American Empire has been fine for most of my (long) life, but it has degraded in recent decades (the older you are, the more alarming it is). We are losing liberties at a rapid pace -- with the blessing and approval of the voters -- and this great experiment in freedom will end in tyranny someday, hopefully not within my lifetime. As the great Walter E. Williams said once, paraphrased: "When all of human history is written, there will be a little blip showing the couple-hundred-year American experiment with liberty. All history before -- and after -- will be about man oppressing man."
