what effect does cbd have on a high?

Discussion in 'Beginner Cannabis Consumption & Tips' started by dross, Jan 3, 2020.

  1. i have a tincture that is 300mg/300mg thc/cbd split. i was just wondering, how does that amount of cbd affect the high from thc?

  2. Usually just lower THC because the CBD is making up for it. THC is psychoactive and CBD is straight medical no high.

  3. Yeah, I have tried a couple of different strains with a mix between CBD and THC, they definitely lack the punch that a straight THC strain has.

  4. Save it for daytime use. More than likely a pretty focused high depending on the size of dose ya take.

  5. I use 1:1 every day all day. It does not get you high in moderate amounts if it really has 50% CBD.

  6. CBD doesn't add to your high, but I don't think it reduces it either. What I've noticed is that CBD seems to eliminate the anxiety I used to get from highs, improves pain-relief, and lessens many of the psychoactive effects. I typically do about 1:1 these days as I'm pretty sensitive to the anxiety side-effects of THC and CBD takes care of that. If you use cannabis for pain relief or are sensitive to THC-induced anxiety, I'd definitely recommend combining it with some CBD. If not, you're probably just limiting the amount of THC you get.

Here's two good links that seem to be true IME and explains some of the science behind how CBD and THC interact:

  7. I've seen a study where small amounts increased the high, but larger amounts compared to THC will reduce it. I am a living proof of that. If I take enough (at least the same amount) CBD with my THC I do not get high, which to me is a good thing.

  8. Would be interested to read the study if you can find it. That second link I posted referenced several studies that showed no effect on the high at even high-CBD doses; but that could be due to other facts (timing/modes of administration, etc.).

  9. Unfortunately I cannot remember where I saw it. If I remember correctly it was done with mice. It was a bit surprising outcome for me, since I had thought that the ratio would not change the effect like that - totally opposite.

Side note: I make all sorts of infused edibles and sometimes make desserts etc when we gather around at my friend's house. Those edibles have only THC. So I always take some extra CBD oil when leaving home and have some "emergency CBD" with me in case I eat too much of my own goodies.

  10. If you come across it again, let me know! I've been reading a lot of cannabis studies recently anyway.

Have you ever tried using CBD to counteract an already-happening too-intense high? I'm a pretty new user and when I started I was doing edibles because I hated smoking anything (now I'm doing oil-based tinctures; very easy to control the "dose") and I had a few "I'm way too high" anxiety-inducing experiences, and back then I didn't know about CBD. Since I found out I haven't had any such experiences to test it out, but I've been curious. I've read/heard conflicting reports online.

  11. Yes, I have used CBD to mellow it down if I feel weird. I don't smoke either (lot of cigarettes, mind), just oils, tinctures and edibles. I'm medical MJ user, I get my high from vino blanco. I microdose oil and tincture several times a day. Sometimes I take a bit of extra THC in the evening, not a lot, my tolerance is low. That helps me to relax and I may even giggle at some stupid jokes on TV. Anyway, since oil takes a while to take an effect, my CBD emergency choice is alcohol tincture sprayed under my tongue.

  12. Thanks for the info.
