Tonight on Trump TV, the national CEO will announce his vision for a winning foreign policy. Since the el presidente likes three- and four-letter words like cat, bat, good, very, and best, tonight he will usher out his vision of foreign policy goals in which the U.S. will be out to WIN. Obviously you can tell I'm not a trump supporter, so we got that outta the way. But I'd like to hear opinions from anyone to help break down and explicate this notion of winning in foreign policy. What does it mean to win? How do we measure wins and losses? Money lost? Body counts? Territories gained/lost? Effects on homefront being feel-good or protest-city (like Vietnam)? No. of casualties? Since the el presidente is vague with just about every thing he says and advocates, let's all try to get a better understanding of what it means to win at foreign policy. So please, what does it mean to win?
As a side, I don't think trump is vague with what he says or advocates. That would imply that he has a more detailed plan or understanding that he's not divulging. I think doesn't have any idea of how things work so he operates on platitudes using the simple language that he and his supporters emotionally connect with.
he has made it a point to explain that he doesn't divulge his plans, and a lot of people take that as not having a plan, but anyways, this isn't really a place for politics, but I will comment that any "winning" strategy would be one with LESS casualties, of US troops, of innocent victims, ..less terroristic attacks, at home and abroad, and ultimately feeling safer in our own country. Also, better raport with allies , which may have to take a back seat, as we get our trade deals restructured so we aren't giving the farm away to everyone else while we watch our country go down the drain.
“We never win, and we don’t fight to win. We’ve either got to win or don’t fight it at all. Here we are, almost 17 years of fighting in the Middle East. I saw a chart, as of a month ago, $6 trillion we’ve spent in the Middle East. That’s just unacceptable.” Who can disagree with this statement? Don't become embroiled in endless conflicts with vague objectives simply to prop up the military industrial complex.
We are the most in debt country on the planet. We need to fight the war on ISIS to where the arabs can pick up the scraps and police their own so we can get the fuck out of there. And then if it goes to shit just let it all go to shit. Ship all the young fighting age male refugees back to their countries to fight for their freedoms . Fix the unfair trade deals we have all over the fucking place and watch jobs come back to this country. And if foreign countries don't like us, quit giving away our tax dollars for losing causes. We will see what happens with President Trumps speech today. In my opinion President Trump is the only one with balls to fix this shit.
It ain't rocket science. Stop invading, occupying and slaughtering the people of the ME. It doesn't look like Trump is going to be any different than his neoconservative predecessors though, $54billion extra already being earmarked for the slaughter fund.
To sum up what you said: all anyone can do is speculate, and before more speculation, let's speculate some more. Great stuff kev.
So you got his whole presidency of 4 years determined what will likely happen? Haven't you seen that he kinda does stuff outta the blue and on his own whim? You still think you know what he will do?
What's the $54bn for? Why is he threatening/provoking Iran? I don't think even Trump knows what Trump's going to do but considering he has surrounded himself with neocons/warmongers I think it's safe to guess that he's gearing up for some warmongering.
Think it will be as diverse as Obama's wars? I doubt it because he is under more scrutiny than Obama was. Wars will lessen by the time 4 years pass, in my guesstimate, Mark my words... You can call me a failure and liar then and I will eat it gladly
I agree mandoluce it's all speculation so I'm gonna say less wars too. And a much stronger nation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Winning foreign policy means to dump the israeli and saudi and ban dual citizenship and label all lobbyists for a foreign nation as traitors. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
Trump wants to keep us speculating, as do 229 republicans in congress. They vowed the only way Americans would see our Dear Leader's tax returns would be over their dead bodies.
What are you, or anyone else going to prove with his tax return anyways? You think that's the golden ticket to his impeachment or something? Please.
Well, as a minimum, it would help clarify any questions of his business dealings with Russia. It could put that story to bed one way or another. It would also help to clarify the potential of conflicts of interests. Why would anyone not think that this would be in the National interest?
What "potential" conflicts of interest? And if it were found that he had ties to Russian business, (meaning he lied) what happens then?
Its not a requirment their is no law that clearly stiplulates he has to provide his tax returns its just tradition. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
It is a tradition... That he said he would follow.. Now he doesn't feel it necessary, great transparency. If he does have business interests with Russia, then it needs to be clear that there is no conflict of interests that would place his personal interests above that of the Nation. That is not too much to ask. What is the downside? That he has lied about his contacts, businesses and personal wealth? Do you fear the knowledge that you have been conned by what is now your President? Why not allow it to be put to rest? The spineless House won't request the records, maybe, just maybe, there will be a little common sense and sense of decency in the Senate to press on with the request.
