What Does A Diffuser Do?

  1. So the bong I'm getting has a 19 mil diffuser on it. What is a diffuser and what's it do?

    I can't believe I don't know this already, since I'm goin on 3 years smoking:rolleyes:

  2. A diffuser makes a bunch of little bubbles instead of a medium amount of bigger bubbles.
It lowers the drag in a bong and makes it hit quite a bit nicer.

  3. Cools and filters the smoke a lot better too right?

  4. Doesn't really filter the smoke that I know of...but with more small bubbles I'd imagine the smoke does get cooled more than it would if the bubbles were bigger....but I'm not sure about filtration.

  5. Don't worrying about not knowing what one was haha. I just found out in this thread also!

  6. The smaller the bubbles, the more surface area of smoke hitting water, the more water filtration happens.

  7. That makes sense, its the same theory I was using with the smoke being cooler...
But I have 4 diffused Roors, a diffused AMG, diffused bubbler.
And I don't notice much filtration difference at all.
Its more about the lessened drag than anything I imagine; diffusers make a HUGE difference with that.
