what do you think will happen to weed after its legalized?

Discussion in 'Cannabis Smoking Gear Questions & Tips' started by kliff2004, Mar 2, 2011.

  1. I was takling about this with someother blades in another topic. and someone suggested giving it, its own thread. so I shall.

This doesnt have to be specified only to "how weed is made" it can be anything in the topic, even bongs and such.

But for me, I will start with just what I think will happen to weed itself.

After weed has been legalized, supply and demand will go crazy. The only way the demands of the people will be met is to establish mass growing plants to produce weed for the masses.

And when this happens, I feel weed will follow suit with any other product mass produced for mass consumption.

It will have things added to it that will have a detremient to our health, just like tobacco, just like meat. Hell even clothes. Whens the last time you bought a sweater made in a sweat shop in china from walmart?

I apply this rational and business practices to weed.

I get afraid that future generations will start succumbing to odd health problems that no one ever experienced before hand when weed was illegal, due to what a company will do to the plant in the name of profit.

SO what do you guys think. I do like to debate so, Ill probably have something to so say, and alot to say about it. I just hope you guys have as much fun as I will with this thread.

  2. And on the topic of bongs after weed is legalized. I have a feeling we will be seeing a shit load more "weedstar" type companies popping up. But I dont have much to say about that right now. Just food for thought.

  3. ya the fact that you can grow on your own defeats all of that why buy when it is legal when you can grow it its simple

as much as I agree with you.

What you have to realize about the statement your making is that.

well to make it more simple. lets put it into modern terms.

Growing tobacco isnt hard right? But do you think all the millions of smokers out there are just going to start growing tobacco, because its easy? Actually I think its illegal to grow tobacco anyway.

I feel that putting these conversations into modern context can help to show how this may not work.

Millions of people can make there own bread to and feed themselves for a week, its cheaper, and healthier, but people dont do that.

Hell, look at all the fast food. Its cheaper and healthier to just make your own dinners, but theres 8 fast food resturants in my town right now. And not everone has the time and energy to provide for themselves, when theres a serivce that can provide it for you instantly.

Why do you think weed is any different. Remember, not everyone shares the same passion we have for cannabis. I have met plenty of stoners that would never grow weed. But they still love it.

  5. so good for them thay can be sheep and follow the herd its called natural selection bro we tharefore are smarter than the genral pop

  6. But by saying this, are you saying that, yes in fact, this can happen?

because there are millions of sheep that follow the herd?

That all those sheep will start buying mass produced "newport" brand marijuana, even in light of being able to grow it themselves?

  7. I think it really depends on the country. Some countries will leave it to the markets to decide how it should be grown, processed, distributed, etc.. While others will regulate its quality in everyway. Even if it is left unregulated, you would still have what you have today with tobacco. There are brands that are full of all kinds of crap, and others that are pure leaf.

  8. ya it can and might but i dont think it will happen that way ppl like us here love real weed not some fake ass shit in some cigs that thay call weed when i can get some amazing chron and smoke out of my bong or use my vape and most likely if it dose become legal it will be only for medical

  9. I agree with that 100%

Theres definietly going to be two sides of the market.

The more expensive organic and healthy brand, and the cheaper mass produced brand.

  10. Yeah, its a shame to think that the "people like us" will become the generations of the past though.

Because the new generations will never have to experience the things that we went through. They will grow up in a world where it is completely socially acceptable to go into a groocery story and buy a 20 pack of filtered joints.

They wont have to go through the problems of dealing with shaddy dealers, or sneaking around and growing.

I know the medical states are different. But for new york. its still sure as shit illegal to do anything weed related. Even if its getting de-criminalized.

  11. ya here its pritty leinent we are not legal but we are decrimanalised no jail time unless you have like a pound and shit lol ya i hope i only stays medical or just decrimalised like cali and other medi states

  12. Invest in vaporizer companies. Really you mean I can get high feel good and benefit my body with zero harmful affects? This sound like magic to the everyday folk

Hemp should run the world and it doesn't, I'd hope legalizing would open up the wicked natural resource that we have. Lots of 'smoke bars' movie theaters with smoking aloud, concerts selling weed etc etc

  13. the netherlands.

    /thread.

  14. And I didnt even think of the stock options that will open after legalization. Hm, Ill definitely be buying stock in the MFLB and Volcano, since they are already established enough now.

oh dude you have no idea.

In my perfect world. I would be running a video game store.

Where everyone that comes in gets a free joint to smoke while they browse. and every time they buy a game, they get another free joint. I love how weed makes all video games seem amazing.

  15. Can you extrapolate. Cause i have no idea what you mean. I dont think comparing america to any other country is good though. We do suck in alot of various ways compared to other countries.

Shit, our country ranks 26th in the world for intelligence of high school students.

  16. fuck and i know why thay all fucking drink like fish and dont smoke weed lol

  17. i dont think that much will change once weed is at least partly decriminalized throughout the majority of the US.

what will change: a lot more home growing and cultivating..like brewing your own beer! imagine a few nice plants out in the garden in your back yard..fu*k yeah.

what will not change: discrimination in the work place and in public. as passionate as we all are about our green trees, there will always be the silent minority that controls more than we know.

in terms of culture, i think we'll still be the counter culture. i dont think big network companies will want to run advertisements and such..i dont know..maybe im being too negative?

  18. I just mean we could go the route of the netherlands, decriminalize not legalize, and have weed available in coffeeshops, still produced by those who treat the plant well, and not massive corporations like newport.

  19. I'm going to be the CEO of a company the magnitude of Marlboro, except the product will be much greener.:smoke:

  20. People want to compare the path of bud to tobacco. But I think there is a fundamental problem with that. The culture surrounding MJ is pretty strong, and were it to be fully legalized and commercially produced that they would have to cater to us to make money. Would you rather buy pre-rolled joints or nugs like before? Sure, pre-rolled sounds convenient and easy, but it would probably be more expensive and leaves you with one method to smoke. Legalization doesn't mean everyone is gonna stop smoking from glass. Also, I believe some chemicals (like nicotine) are inherently part of tobacco whereas bud is clean on its own. Lastly, since there is still a social stigma about it, even full legalization wouldn't bring about mass usage. I doubt many more people will suddenly become regular tokers. Also, someone mentioned earlier that big companies won't want to jump on the bandwagon due to the stigma, which is probably going to be true in the short term. Someday it'll be more acceptable. As a result, I feel like a lot of growing operations will be small and more local with a couple mass producers headquartered in places like Oaksterdam and growing in the places they already do (like humboldt county and other like places.

Just my 2 cents, time to toke :smoke:
