Hello Fellows, I've been at this for a few years but I didn't take it all that seriously until this past summer; so this whole jive is still kinda new to me, ya dig? With school starting what will now be later today for me, I decided to go out and get my very first piece a day or two ago. I got a very plain looking (frosted glass) bubbler that I've decided to name Steam and I'm very happy with my purchase. I was wondering what you all look for when you're deciding at your local head shop (or favorite internet kiosk). Do you have a favorite brand? A favorite style? Any and all advice is welcome. For me, I like the smoothness of bongs, but not the size (unless I intend to share ) so I tend to enjoy bubblers and doublers. Dry pieces tend to make me cough like it's nobody's business, but I don't mind a spoon or chillum from time to time. Happy Smoking, Walkman TL;DR: What do you like to smoke out of?
I'm not a fan of dry pieces. Spoons, steamrollers, not for me. Bongs are my favorite, the bigger the better. I recently (well, like a year ago) started buying percolated bongs and ashcatches as opposed to a straight tube, and I fucking love bongs that much more now haha. I've had a few bubblers, one I really loved until it broke It was a pretty simple bubbler, black at the bowl and choke with white glass coming out of the side to actually make the choke, the bottom and mouth piece were clear so you could see the smoke. It was percolated too actually, just a 3 holed stem instead of a regular one. It was smooth as fuck.

The frost is why I bought it, I don't like frills and flash generally. It's pretty great. The best part in my opinion is putting a bit of water on the outside to make it more translucent, only to have it evaporate while you watch the glass frost up. Also it hits like a champ.
I like clear or frosted glass. Diffusion/percolation. Height, glass thickness. (Or size in a bowl) I like straight tubes for bongs, or anything but a beaker.
I love bubblers and Bongs but i will be honestly A bubbler is straight up gonna get dirty quick i bought a new bubbler this summer juneish.. anyway i just cleaned it tonight for the first time and im having mass problems with getting some of the parts cleaned.. if you are going to get a bubbler i suggest a colored one if you dont like the look of dirty piece (who does?) ive had about 8 bubblers in my time of smoking and all that were clear glass or had some clear parts (bottom of the bubbler) and they all are so hard to clean.. i suggest a bong very easy to clean and best way to smoke imo if your worrying about like being a stealth id go with a mini bong not too small but not too big u can get a very nice one with a perc and ice pinches for around 45-50 bucks. sorry about me rambling on this shit im high as fuck but peace
You your bub loos legit. Rinse the water often an soak with simple green like once a week. Should keep her nice and clean. Soak for a few hours ten rinse thoroughly. As to your original post. I look at glass quality. Look at the joints, thickness, design. Usually looking for something gridded or a perc that provides max diffusion
