what do you do when life has you down?

  1. I am not sure where to post this but honestly some of the best advice i get is from fellow stoners so i figured i would prob get the best answers here.

Here it goes basicly my life has taken a u turn from smooth sailing fun times with the occasional drawback to just plain shit. First we just found out that my great grandma has breast cancer and needs a double mastectomy, my regular grandma is in the hospital right now for namonia(pretty sure i spelled that completely wrong) the size of a softball in her lungs and is running a fever of a hundred and four, then i found out the other day that we are losing our house due to my old step dad being a complete fuck up luckily he is no longer around, and now i just had to get rid of my dog:( she was the cutest doberman that ever existed and the sweetest most loyal dog i have ever had. But ya thats just a few of the shitty things going on in my life right now and i was wondering what you fellow friends did to kind of bring yourself out of a depressed funky mood that i have been in lately?

  2. I'll tell you what I do for myself...

Never listen to depressing shit, listen to a song that would be played in the hopeful scene of a dark movie... I'm listening to "Short Change Hero" right now and thinking about how I will be fine in life, I will make great money and live the life I want.

    Mind over matter brother.

  3. My mother cried herself to sleep for years because of a horrible 1 in a million disease that eventually killed my younger brother. It wasn't a quick death, it was a degenerative disease that slowly drained the life of a once healthy boy over the course of 7 years. In his final years he became delusional, completely blind and immobile. I'm going to stop there, but there's a lot more to that story.

I'm just letting you know that no matter how bad things seem, eventually they'll improve. Just remember that people have it worse than you and try to think of the positives. Think about how fortunate you are to live in a first world nation, to be able to afford to recreationally use marijuana, to have access to a computer/internet.

  4. What does not kill us makes us stronger. Do not give up. Live is the fight. It is not the last time you going to face hard times. So just take it as it is.if you can change something then do it if you can not change anything then just accept it.There are some things that we can not control or change...And they are always be there... Stay strong.

  5. You got it pretty bad but just remember there is ALWAYS people more worse off than you

  6. I smoke a bowl!
But someone always has it worse than you. If i really need to feel better about myself I watch episodes of intervention, addicted, human planet, and planet earth. They all remind me that at leaset im not going through all of this PLUS a drug addiction or being born in the middle of the jungle somewhere and never get to see how beautiful the world is

  7. remember, that God, there's a reason for it all, be strong, do good things, think positive, feed the positive, and it will grow.

  8. Try to be grateful for the good aspects of your life.

Can you walk? Alot of people can't.

Are you starved for food? Alot of people are.

Are you an orphan who never knew their family? Plenty of people have this problem..

Are you doing life sentence in prison getting raped on a daily basis?...you get the idea.

  9. In order:

    1. Smoke a bowl(or 2 or 3 or 5 or 64)
    2. Get nice tall iced glass of water
    3. walk in my backyard
    4. play with my dog
    5. meditate

bout to do this right noww:smoke:

  10. Honestly, don't turn to weed.. I know its not going to be the most popular advice on this forum, but don't. I really don't want to go into detail about just HOW shit my life was about 9 months ago, but I will tell you it was bad. Almost bad enough that I nearly took my own life.. And i'm your typical "has it all" kid... Captain of the hockey team, top 10 percent academically in the nation, rich parents.. You know, the kid who no one thinks anything can go wrong and would never kill them self.. And it was THAT bad... But turning to weed was the absolute worst choice I made to solve all that..

Turning to substances like weed, alcohol, and pills like I did will only cover up the problem. It's not going to solve it, yes it will take away the pain for a short period of time, but it will only return later. In a force way stronger than before. I am still suffering from the emotional and mental stress that all caused and still trying to claw my way back from it. Now when I get down, i usually head to the rink or the gym, do something I love that is positive and I just use that time to cope with the pain in a productive way... Thats my best advice, use a productive method to escape the pain for awhile. Listen to music, work out, play video games, talk to some friends or family, watch your favorite movie, hell; pray or read the bible. Whatever it is that floats your boat, do it.

Just don't turn to something to mask the problems, solve them.

  11. Smoking makes everything worse to me; If everything is already going bad. I like to smoke when I'm having a good time.

  12. thank you to everyone for all support and advice. I am just waiting for better things to come my way. I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason and maybe some positive will come out of this somewhere its just a matter of waiting untill that happens.

  13. That is rough, friend. My best advice to you, coming from someone who (continues) to struggle with depression, is to distract yourself with things that make you happy. Your situation is a bit different than mine, as your situation is more physical. Take some classes that you like; whether that be painting, basketball, a language course, etc.. Just do some things that can distract your mind temporarily. Spend time with friends, go into the city with some friends and get smashed. Because this time period in your life is (or is going to become) very stressful, laughing is your best medecine.

You'll end up having a friend that will be going through the same thing sooner or later, and you'll be able to help them through it.
All the best man, I really am sorry for your situation right now. It'll make you stronger in the end, so keep your head up alright?

  14. All you can do is take a seat and think about all the things you truly care about. The things that you think about all the time no matter what you're its in the back of your mind. And when you figure out what it is you want and care about, take that and make a plan on how to utilize that in your life and create the life you want for you.

I dont think that made any sense..

  15. Get baked. Workout hard. Go running. Drive to a quiet, nice spot and just sit and think. Video games. Trying to figure out meditation atm.

  16. Realize that some problems can't be solved and they just are what they are. Sometimes dancing alone for hours helps me work off stuff, but I'm def. no expert in what to do since my attention span gets bored quick. Just don't drink alchy or start taking pills... that shit sucks. But, I think weed can be alright to partake in when depressed cause often the worst thing that will happen is you'll eat a bunch of food and fall asleep. It's not ideal to some people, but weed has been known to be used for depression and there's probably a reason for that.

  17. Music and close friends always help my spirits. Think of the positives in life and keep in mind that everything will balance out. Maybe today life isn't going your way, but soon you'll be happier than you've ever been. I hope that made sense. I hope for the best for your family.

Sorry about all that OP, seems like a lot to deal with at once. I've been in similar situations. What I do personally, is just try to step back and collect myself as a person. Realize the things that are happening, understand them, cope with them, and before you know it you will be on the up again.

For example, about 3-4 months ago I was pissed for awhile. I felt low, down, and out. But I realized that it all changes and one day your down the next day your up life is just one big rollercoaster (sorry for the overused analogy lol)

  19. i just pull a bag of colorful frosty leaves on out and free my scalp
