What Do You Do To Stave Off Cravings?

Discussion in 'Cannabis Consumption Q&A & Tips' started by Sc0pe, May 8, 2014.

  1. so everyone says weed isnt addictive, probably not physically but we all know that we would like to get high and if we cant its a bummer

ive been smoking daily for a few weeks and want to take a break, so what should i do to distract myself from running back when im bored of being sober

I really think this depends on individual.

I have been smoking on a daily basis for little over a year now, at a rate that I am burning through an OZ every 2 weeks.

I work full time and won't get home until at least 7pm, and I never really had any problem during the day. There's no craving, anxiety attack or any withdraw effect that any smoker would have when they quit.

I've tried to toke before work, but it doesn't really work -> it'd make me lazy and distract me at work.

Of course there are occasions where I couldn't wait to get off work so I could smoke, but that only applies when I get new piece or just wanted to have fun (looking forward to the weekend etc) and to that point, WHO DOESN'T WANT TO GET OFF WORK AND GO HOME FOR FUN?

I really don't think you could get hooked on so easily and under such short time. Perhaps you are just bored and need things to keep yourself occupied?

Anything that anybody gets any kind of enjoyment from can become an addiction, people get addicted to jackin' off

  5. You need to exercise! :hello:

Exercise releases anandamide, your body's own THC-like compound. And it also releases THC from your fat!

i guess theres no harm in a little more exercise

  7. heres my experience. i think youll relate and find it helpful and insightful. read it before its gone!

i just ran out of buds yesterday, i had almost an ounce of low grade raspberry kush, but i cant afford to smoke like i want to for a little while... right now im completely t-free! ive scraped out my bong bowl a bunch of times already.. honestly i get cravings as bad for weed as hard drugs (im not fucking discussing other drugs ive already been given so many warnings and had some of my favorite posts taken down) but ive done it all and man weed is right up there. not only with the potency of the high but with the cravings. after i post this im going to scrape the last tiny bit of resin out of every nook and cranny of my metal bowl piece.. ugh.

for me it takes 2 days without any thc to feel the effects. the main one is anxiety. i only get irritable if ive been smoking 24/7 and forget how to deal with people and things when not sober.. lately ive been smoking at nights as ive been very busy and poor lately. the main withdrawal i feel is just a generalized anxiety, and i dont smoke weed to cope with anxiety, depression, stress etc. i smoke it almost purely recreationally. if i have some really good kush i might smoke it for anxiety but it general worsens my anxiety or stress levels because it makes me think harder in general, then i will think harder about what is causing me to be anxious or depressed and just worsen it.

heres how i deal with the withdrawals and cravings. usually i get a pack and smoke one or 2 cigs a night. i havent done this in a while as i am not much of a cig person any more but it helps a lot. it feels nice and its really nice to have something to smoke. it will help with the cravings too. you can take a first generation antihistamine like benadryl to cope with cravings. it has muscle relaxant and sedative effects at recommended doses and doesnt need to be abused. other than that i like to get really into something. i like to find a really good tv show or get into a video game or do some research on a topic that interests me. movies are also really good too. i generally cant really get into movies as well when im stoned because i just kind of 'see through' everything, it just seems so cheesey and fake when im stoned, u know what i mean? its almost like i can see the director and the cameras in the actors eyes. if youve been putting something off, do it. working out is definitely a huge way to cope, it will take up a lot of time, release endorphins, and you will get really into it like you were really into smoking weed and it will take up a lot of your thoughts and time. before i started smoking i would lift for 2 hours a night. if you like running, then run, whatever you want to do. caffeine is good too. im not sure why youre taking this break, maybe its just a tolerance thing. anyways have fun when you get back to toking and get ripped out of your mind and cant even move because youre so stoned and cant even watch tv because its too intense!

  8. fuck id totally download a few series or movies, but my country just passed a new law to crack down on pirates apparently, worst timing but thanks for the tips

  10. Girlfriend.
She makes me feel high. I absolutely love her right now and every second with her is pure happiness.

Also a lot of cleaning. I cleaned my house like 4 times when I was quitting. I'm talking about toothbrush behind the toilet type shit too. I have some serious cravings.

  11. i dont really get cravings since i just smoke on weekends and holidays, but i get what you mean, i normally just obsessively play guitar or xbox haha

  14. I think everyone at one point is dry and really has an itch to smoke. Just do something that you enjoy or whatever your hobby is. Exercising is also the best thing too me because it helps lower tolerance and gives you a natural high kinda.

  15. i honestly was wondering about this my self haha but like everyone else says, you just have to keep yourself occupied. my biggest thing is at nights, i get so anxious and fidgety that it drives me up the wall. sometimes i wonder how we ever got by without... lol

  16. Minecraft, Halo 4, Beer, Women, Take a legally obtained/owned firearm to the range or the woods and shoot, Camping, Hell anything that you like to do normally.

  17. in my opinion weed is just like anything else in the world (like alcohol, caffiene, fastfood etc.), if you have too little youre missing out but if you have too much it kind of ruins it.

like if i smoke everyday for a whole week all the days fade into eachother and i feel bored all the time.
but if im working hard (doing work, sport, or hobbies) for a few days, then when i take a break to chill and blaze a j its like the best thing is the world because i feel like ive earnt it and because ive been looking forward to it. so if i smoke say 2 or 3 days a week (for me) its so much nicer than smoking everyday.

    but thats just my opinion

  18. Hookah when the cravings get bad and other than that I try to stay super occupied
