First time grower.. I've heard that pruning is in order at some point.. but what exactly do you trim, where and why? Also is it completely necessary or not?
What it does is focus the plants energy into fewer bud sites, hopefully making them bigger, and by pruning, it allows more light to the lower branches, however you dont want too many lower branches to remain. A quick google search will find you many many pages with tutorials of pruning, topping, lollipopping, fimming and the like.
