What Do Bongs Filter Out In The Water?

Discussion in 'Cannabis Consumption Q&A & Tips' started by SMOCATRON, Sep 25, 2014.

  1. Obviously when the smoke passes through the water, not all of it comes out. Something gets filtered, making the water dirty. Does anyone know what it actually filters out and if it makes bongs a "healthier" option than joints or pipes?

  2. It'll filter out a little of the resin and some of the plant matter, not much but a little. It mostly just makes the smoke cooler on your throat and lungs. That's why ice bongs are so popular. They make the smoke cold.

  3. By that logic I could just throw some crushed ice in my bong instead of water. o_O

  4.
sorta, but its the interaction of the smoke and water that helps cool it the most

  5. Ah. Just thinking. I haven't slept or eaten in a day or two, IDK a thing right now. D:

It's more of the smoke actually passing through the water that cools it. If there's only ice, it doesn't really get all of the smoke cold. But having ice AND water (or an ice catcher) works like a charm

You should probably eat by the way. I had a mate last year who didn't eat all day. We smoked, and then he passed out in his chair in the middle of the dining hall because his blood sugar (or maybe blood pressure.. I forget) dropped too low after the smoke

  7. Full crushed ice bong is the tits. You're sucking in cold air. I guess it depends on the bong size but I have a necklace cup thing I customized and its perfect

  8. I always eat an hour or so before smoking. I don't have anything right now; waiting on my guy to come through with the free bud he says he has for me. I'll have it between now and tuesday. Still, fucker is a 15 minute walk up the road. Dunno why I couldn't pick up last night. >:O

That being said, tired me is not very bright. Just very tired.

  9. It filters all of the guns, sodomy, pregnant house wives, and 3rd degree bee stings out of your maryjuhwaner

  10. Hot water filters more. Cold water cools it down.

For the actual real answer that you've yet to receive after 9 replies (frustratingly I bet) : some Carcinogens in the smoke, and water cools the smoke

  12. False answer. Everything is filtered through the water. Water doesn't selectively filter carcinogens, if it did we'd have a simple means to purify nature from cancer wouldn't we?

  13. smoke fairies.

Obviously. I didn't say all carcinogens. Edited it, There. weed will never cause cancer so they're not really carcinogens it's a narrow term for weed. If you eat healthy and live right, you don't get cancer. All the money toward cancer research is total bullshit.

  15. It does not selectively filter carcinogens at all.

And you can get cancer from weed.

And healthy people develop cancer too.

Cancer research has helped to increase survival rates of many terminal cancers and has dramatically increased both the efficiency and delivery/cost of chemo drugs.

What planet do you live on?

  16. It also filters thc at the price of smoother smoke with less "carcinogens".
A price I'm willing to pay.

  17. Less cannabinoids means you need to smoke more to get high. So any loss of carcinogens that would exist (due to just less volume of smoke essentially) is nullified if you're just going to smoke more.

There's no price for health here. Enjoy smoking bongs because they're fun and deliver more smoke at once, not because they're "healthier".

If you want healthier, vape. Avoid combustion.

  18. Stop bringing selectivity into this. you're putting words into my mouth. The sole use of weed hasn't ever caused cancer on the records. I mean, for the cancer research statement, all i need to know from you to end that debate is, do you think there are cures for cancer besides chemo. the governments having a monopoly over cancer with the treatments and reeping tons of profit. when they themselves already know it's multiple cures

  19. Chemo kills half the patients statistically.
    Just letting you know.

It filters out harmful hydrocarbons by hydrolysis(The polar absorption into water) usually very acidic molecules,
hydrocarbons are toxic and thickening agents and gases.
C02 natural evaporates at air temperature and is expelled from our body anyway.
Carbon Monoxide is the remainder, but with a polar valence space I imagine it can be partially filtered.
