What Causes Price Discrepancies?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by qwerty man, Sep 12, 2011.

  1. I've always wondered why weed costs about 5x more here compared to Cali and our neighbor up north. Here are a few I was able to come up with

    • Stricter laws discourage growing
    • Northeast states have a short growing season (doesn't explain Canada though)
    • Dense populations create more demand, raising price
    • More affluent areas already conditioned to pay big bucks

    thoughts?

  2. Greedy dealers/growers compensating for risk factor by jacking up prices

  3. it's mainly depends on the climate and growing conditions of your region.. if you have a perfect climate and lots of land for it, like southern ontario or in BC, you get potent weed and tons of it because it's so easy to grow. in places like arizona, indiana and other states it's harder to grow it, meaning it has to come from somewhere else which immediately increases the costs to transport it, and it will likely go through more dealers who all want to make a buck before it gets to you, resulting in a higher price.

  4. Come on man you're on a forum where we smoke weed it took me a whole 5 minutes to realize that Discrepancy was even a word. Goddamn I'm high

I read it like 4 times thinking it said dispensaries
    Hahaah

  6. people need to stop blaming their stupidity on being high.

  7. less supply= higher prices. in places where its cheaper, alot more people smoke, so there are more growers hence more supply

  8. Prices can go up depending on how many times its changed hands as well, since the buyer wants to make a profit.

  10. Here in Canada, growing season isn't so much a factor because there is very little of it. We do how ever, have many more grow ops compared to some of your stricter states. Like a lot more. More supply, Cheaper weed!
