I have 5 plants under a a 1000W HPS light in a closet that is about 3.5' by 5'. The problem is that they are in veg. cycle and I want to flower them soon (about 1-2 weeks) and the 6" exhaust tubing for the light keeps the sliding closet door from closing all the way. this hasn't really been a problem yet cause this is my first grow and the plants are still in veg. I was thinking of using some kind of vinyl sheet and gluing mylar to the other side but I'm not really sure. Any help?
Heres a cheap way to reduce light around that exhaust tube. take so card board and fold it like 3in all the way down so it makes an L shaped piece of card board. Next tape the 3in part to the inside of the closet cutting around the vent tube. then all you have to do is close the door with the card board on the inside of the closet overlapping the door and wahla.
hahaha soo true man, my hole setup is all either stapled or ductaped. hah. But i got a question. you said you have a 1000w light and your grow closet is about the same size as my grow box. I am using a 400w light tho. i plan to up the lighting soon but i was just wondering if u could get pics up here or tell me howmany plants you have and how everythings going. A quik n easy way to fix this problem with the ducting would be to. Cut a hole in one of the sliding doors towards the top or wherever u think is best. Make sure its a nice cut tho you dont want light dumpin out. but like thc said, ducktape all the way bro. After you cut the whole. feed the duct thru. leave one door stationary at all times. your just gunna have to make due with the one door you have accessable..
Go to a fabric store and ask for black-out material. It is 100% light-proof. It's used for photography and drapery. It does not breathe either. It's about $5 a yard and is about 50 inches wide. I have used this to blackout my windows to help conceal my grow op. Also, the material is white in color. Hope this helps and good luck.
target sell drapes called eclipse or something like that that are light proof Does Light Travel in a Straight Line? | eHow.com
Yes, those will work the same beings that they are of the same material. The only major difference may be price. With picking up at a fabric store, you get wholesale prices and more material for the price. I have bought blackout drapery before and it was more costly than when I discovered I can get the material at a fabric store for a drastic drop in price.
~shakes her head~ Visqueen is around $1-$2 a foot at your local hydro store. Each foot is 10' wide. Grab what you need, it is light proof, and the inner layer is 97% reflective, allowing your plants to soak up even more light. Peace, Bak Alchisk
my thinking is that not every my have fabric stores but Target /Wallmart are never too far from anywhere
