What can i do? Leaves brown - stems purple

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by burn1down, Sep 25, 2007.

  1. The leaves are turning brown and the stems seem to be turning purple, what can i do?

Setup: DWC bucket, barely any nutes, LED lights, Just added a 42w (supposedly equivalent to a 150w CFL).

    10. Room temps & Humidity or reservoir temps

  3. 1. hydro
    2. doesnt apply
    3. ph of water is 5.5
    5. age of plants is 21 days since sprouted
    6. i used half of the recommended doesage of nutes, but ive been taking water out and putting more distilled water in bc i think i put too much nutes in. i took out 12 cups of water in total and it held a little over 3 gallons of water. The brand of the nutes is BC Grow. I have a kit that includes the following: BC grow, BC Boost, Thrive alive b1 red, thrive alive green (it tells me to spray the plants weekly with a fine mist of this...im guessing with distilled water mixed in? and does the ph of the water matter?), BC Bloom, and Awesome Blossoms.
    7. lights are the LED 3 light track and i added a 43 watt cfl says its equivalent to a 150watt light bulb.
    8. Light cycle is 24/0
    9. been in 24/0 since they sprouted
    10. not sure of the room temp...but its 75 degrees in my room and its prob 5 degrees hotter at most...i have a fan and now a blower with a carbon filter for the smell.

Thanks Ganja Guerrilla I hope this helps.

Also if you look at the pictures of the leaves they are from all 4 different plants. They each have one leaf set that looks like this. On one of the plants the leaf that looks bad is starting to curl and tips are turning black, but its only that one 5 leaf set. should i cut it off? or whats the deal with it? I went to ur website and the spots look like ph def but my ph is 5.5 so idk how that can be. I had to calibrate my ph tester since i havent done it in a few weeks and after i did, my ph read 5.2. so maybe thats the cause of the discolor and browning of the leaves? Let me know what you think I need some help badly.

  4. the symptoms are leading to lockout, & it maybe fert related, I also notice burns and nitrogen toxicity curling

I think you should get a chemical ph test kit from the pet shop to backup your readings when in doubt.......optimum PH 5.5 - 5.8

also you need to get a meter to read your PPM's to measure the nutes, so your not guessing

after you take another ph reading to backup the ph meter, Id change out the res
& stop spraying a couple plants as a test

  5. Ok thanks man.....i just ordered a ppm tester and it should be here in a few days...i have a liquid ph testing kit should i try that as a backup? Ill keep you posted.....what does lockout mean? and is there anything i can do for the nitrogen toxicity? Im going to wait till i get the ppm tester before i change out the res so i can see exactly how much im putting in

  6. yes

nutrients are lockout from the plant, causing defencies to show in the plant

Overwatering, PH & fertilizer overdoes are the main causes
