Hi guys, I've been smoking for a long time now. I only use papers, or blunts. In my home country, bongs are not so much part of the culture. I'd like to get myself a nice bong for smooth hits. From what I've seen I should go for a perc bong, possibly with an ash catcher... What's your advice guys? What brand, type of perc, size, what addons...? Thanks for your time!
So let me start by saying I've had probably 8-10 bongs, easy. All sizes. I have one thing to say. Go big or go home. If you want a small bong, you might as well get a bubbler. I sold every single bong I had because I was never satisfied until my last purchase. About two years ago I bought a diesel about 24" all the fancy percs and stuff and I LOVE it. I'll never buy another bong unless this one breaks (which I won't let happen). It's super thick and well made and everyone that hits it, loves it. The size is perfect for some big smooth hits. If you want something small, go for a bubbler, they work just as good as cooling down smoke and they're much cheaper. If you want to go big, and get a bong, just get something reputable. Cheap glass isn't good and good glass isn't cheap. Just my .02 cents. "The world is in your hands, Mine are in the dirt."
Thanks for the answer Carter, I'm considering going big too. Although I'm not used to take big hits, obviously. Could you be a little more specific about the one you actually got? Diesel, approx 24"... Any idea of its "name" so I can look it up?
Buy a bong with thick glass. I have had sooo many bongs, $50 bongs all the way to $500 bongs, they all broke. I plan on buying an HVY 9mm thick bong. I've had my eye on this one: HVY Glass - 9mm 4 Arm Perc Beaker Thick durable glass. Edit: Link was blocked.

Glass has always been a priority for me. Much better taste and somehow, i manage to take larger rips. There is some cheap china-glass out there but buying and owning a quality glass bong is a blessing
I have an 18" beaker with no percs and I love it. You can take huge rips and there isn't as much drag (no percs)
