What are your thoughts on fast food?

  1. What are your views on fast food? As a person who eats a lot of fast food daily or weekly. I find it as yummy! Simple as that. [IMG] Living in California you have many different ethic groups who serve great ethic food. Like Mexican, Italian, Arab, Hawaiian, and various Asian restaurants. Which I consider fast food since the food is served quickly. Maybe you're different. You probably find fast food cheap and or disgusting.

  2. i love fast food yes, but nothing and i mean nothing beats home cooking

  3. That sounds like awesome food. When I think of fast food I think of processed reheated stuff i.e McDonalds, Taco Bell, Burger King, etc. I like it when I'm high sometimes, but that's about it. If I had some nice ethnic restaurants with quick service like you I would have a totally different view.

  4. There are plenty of different places to get food. I'd rather not eat fast food.

  5. It's clearly a form of government-sponsored terrorism.

  6. I make all my meals...

  7. I always prefer something home cooked over anything else, but when i'm cooked fast food is the greatest-thing-EVER

  8. I fuckin love it! I only get it two-three times a month. Which sucks, I'm a owner of a business so I'm always having to go out to dinner parties and whatnot(so I never get fast food). Tomorrow I'm gonna get some Panda Express :D

  9. I can't stand it, I have a mental repulsion to anything of that nature... maybe because the only fast food we have here is KFC, Hungry Jacks (the Aussie equivalent to Burger King) and McDonalds, and all three are constantly broadcasting these contemptable, manipulative, commercialist ads that I consider to be ornaments of the lowest point that human culture has stooped to in her history. Aussies would know what I'm talking about, those vile McDonalds ads where they're going for the 'fresh' appeal with some crappy 'chilled' acoustic song playing while perfectly dressed, perfectly smiling couples flumox around on the beach and a perfect teenager with a perfect voice gives what is meant to be a 'hip' delivery of some filthy sales pitch on the latest, newest and most exciting burger to hit town. I literally cannot watch a McDonalds ad without voicing my sheer fucking disgust and enduring something similar to mental anguish, such is the perversity of these ads - if I had one here I'd probably run through it to demonstrate what I mean, but since I don't I suppose that everyone shall just have to accept my 'grumpy old man' ramblings at face value :p

The food, similarly, is crap - unless it's Subway, which still isn't too great, then it's preprocessed, precooked, re-re-fried, mass produced, chemically enhanced shit that I struggle to even call food. After all, what is food, at the end of the day? A source of nutrition - there's much more to it to those that are passionate about it, but beyond all the smoke and mirrors our PURPOSE for eating food is to derive nutrition from it. And what nutrition does a McFlurry have...? Fat, sugar and flavourings/colourings/additives etc, which is to say NO nutritional value whatsoever. Same goes for burgers, pizza and all the rest of it, there is almost nothing in them that the body would naturally recieve in such a concentrated (not to mention re-re-refined) dosage. Fat is by no means bad for you, but you have to work if you want to eat fat, otherwise you just end up getting fat... and it's almost impossible to work off the saturated, fried up fats that fast food is (was going to say 'fast food contains', but it's probably better to just say 'fast food is') due to it being so bound in with the nutrition that your body is actually trying to derive from the 'meal' that you've just had. Therefore, I have a hard time viewing fast food as 'food' at all, it's merely a filler to keep you going from the time in between one fix to the other... some people enjoy it, and I wouldn't mind it if their enjoyment (which all too often is addiction, I have a mate who is addicted to fast food... very sad to have to see) wasn't fuelling the bosses of these companies and their evil multinational expansionist activities. It's one thing to sell nutritionally devoid food to those who are generally well-nutritioned enough anyhow, but it's another to get people from starving countries hooked on 'food' that and that they can't afford to pay the medical consequences of. Obesity is crippling the West, but at least we can generally pay for it... how do we expect Sudan or Indonesia to pay for triple heart bypasses and coronary refittings, heart medications and 'weight loss programs'?

    /rant... :D

  10. I think its delicious and terrible for you. I eat it once every few weeks, and it is glorious. Somehow I've managed to avoid the McDonalds and Arbys that's a five minute walk away for the past 6 months.

  11. stuff like bk, mcdonalds...no. Stuff like real fresh ingridient taco stands yes.

Pretty much sums up my opinion of fast food.

You can have good food made with quality ingredients cooked quickly, which I guess you could call fast food. When you say fast food I tend to think of McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Taco Bell for bottom of the heap, then Pizza Hut, Dominos, Panda Garden next level, then Applebees, Chilis at the top of the heap. All 'corporate cooking' chain places.

I absolutely adored a small place called Mamouns in New Haven CT. Classic middle eastern stuff, felafel, lamb, kebabs. All made there, nothing frozen and nuked. There are small taquerias, mom n pop sandwich shops ... pho places ... I tend to go for non-chain places as much as possible. On road trips, we take sandwich makings and drinks in a cooler so we don't have to stop.

  13. I cut fast food (McDonalds, BK, Wendys, DD, Taco Bell, Arbys, Sonic, etc...) completely out of my diet for little over a year, and ive lost 50 pounds! :smoke:
I dont think I'll ever eat fast food (unhealthy kind) ever again.

  14. AHHH MAMOUN'S!!!! That place was fuckin awesome I had my first falafel there.

  15. I used to eat at dairy queen every friday for a year

Then one day I was sitting in my normal spot high as fuck...Im like I wont gain much but man this food sits in you for along ass time...Eww and now i go out to fast food like every few months or so hahaa.

    DQ blizzards rule though

  16. to me fast food = calories and me getting bigger

something that should be indulged once to a few times per week. while other meals remain consistantly over all healthy.

i dont think about it being unhealthy for me or negative at all actually. if i did it more then 3 times a week for a few months then ok but a few times a week no im doing good:D

  17. Fast food is pretty spendy for what you're getting, if you think about it.
    Take a burrito for instance.
One cost like in the 2 dollar range at taco bell. Pretty small, too, nothing to get excited about.
Taco del mar has great big burritos, but they can be over 5 bucks if you want guac and SC.

A can of beans is like a buck. A block of cheese (4lbs (or 2?) of tillamook cheddar for instance) is about 5-6 bucks depending on where you go and will last you for many cans of beans in the future. Tortillas are a couple bucks for maybe 8 or so depending on where you go.

Yeah kinda vague but think about it a little with me.

One can of beans can make two burritos (probably more, but two is a good number). A whole block of cheese will last so much longer, lets say you can make 20 burritos from typical sized tortillas with that cheddar.

So you got like 2 bags of tortillas which is like 5 bucks.
10 cans of beans is about 10 bucks.
    cheeze is about 6.
So about 21 dollars in all.
    That's 1.05 per burrito.

And thats if you're using a HALF of a can of beans on each burrito, thats a shit-ton of beans! So you probably need even fewer cans of beans which puts your burrito cost down to under a dollar each!
If you bring meat into the situation, you can go the frozen patty route since rationing out the meat will be easy since you can break the patties into quarters/halves/thirds depending on how much you need, and freshly cooked meat beats microwaved meat any day of the week.
Veggies are always good too! You can get corn, salsa, cilantro is pretty cheap, peppers and pretty easy to ration out, onions are easy, tomatoes are do-able and guac is fixable if you buy the avocado and mash it as you need it.

If a 16 year old can make a burrito, so can you, and I bet yours will taste better.
And that is why I avoid fast food.

  18. eeerrrryyy day i LOVE fast food :hello: yummmm i just had the new bk stuffed steakhouse it was delicous

  19. I used to buy one of their take out containers full of uncooked felafel dough and take it home and fry it up there ... nothing like it fresh and hot!

  20. I feel it is a good food for people who are underweight.
