i am having an issue, i got like 3 fans going into my walk in closet, i live in texas so its hot. i got my ac set to 75 and my closet is still 85, it doesnt go higher, usualy 77 but this weeks going to be in the 100's outside what are the temps in your grow room? i'd like to know and see whats up, and if i should be worried. people grow outside right? these plants can grow if its 100 out? or not? i'm trying my hardest
lmao, I know what you mean about the heat. Im just across the red river from you my temps before my recent upgrades were mid-upper 80s consistently. Occasional creeping into the low 90s for a few minutes between a/c cycles last summer. I was definately able to continue growing though, just not *as* effectively. had to keep lights further from the canopy, had a bunch of fans for a ghetto-ventilation rig. not too long ago, I made a lot of upgrades, and got the big inline fan (8"HO). Now, temps are almost 10 degrees cooler. I average upper 70s, and occasionally creep into the 80s between a/c cycles.
thats pretty cool. my closet grow is only 4-5 degrees warmer then the closet. and the closet is 2-4 degrees warmer then my room. so a ho fan wont really do much unless i use it to blow cool air in from my room what were your side effects of your high heat?
i know where the red river is anyways im not the guy to ask about grow temps. im in the mid 90s =( looking for ways to better my ventallation system. from what i read 75-80 is perfect
Ya mine are in my attic and I haven't fully gotten my venting system figured out but I get sometimes highs of 105 today it actually hit 110 for about an hour and they seem to be fine, they also get to like 65/75 at night bwhaha
I know you say you're using fans but are you using anything to intake a fresh supply of air? and are you using anything for extraction?
i freak out anytime i go over 80 degrees. have been constant 75 but summer is on the way, i took the balast out of the grow room to reduce the heat.
mine stays at what I want, which is usually 71-72 degrees for my 1000w it sounds like you are trying to blow air into the room only, you need to be sucking it out.
our temps are 78-83 and the ladies are much happier than last round where the average was 91 with the lights on and low 60's when off... can you say hermies? run an exhaust fan with a filter (the oinkers in texas are punks, ya don't need them showin up)
the layout of the room is quite wierd and difficult to blow in and blow out from the door way closet is 4 feet by 10 feet , its a functional closet half of it has clothes quarter of it is storage and the back shelfs are growing. in the future i will most likely be spending money on duct work. but untill then i cant aford the expencive inline fans. maybe in a month or 2 when i am ready for flowering. but honestly i dont have that kind of room atm. the whole issue is that the closet is on the outside wall and the evening sun warms the wall up and there is no ac duct in the closet like there should be.
The temps in my box started off from 85-95, but when sped up my fans it got down to the right temps. Now I just have my fans blowing at full speed when the lights are on, and half speed when lights are off, that way it is a little quieter then.
i got a setup in my shed outside and the temps are starting to get a little high. 88 lights on and 75 lights off. i have a HVAC fan sucking air in from under the shed where its cool and a bigger fan sucking air in from the grow room and blowing it out. my problem is that i have it so well insulated from the winter that its like a sweat box when its sunny and hot outside. in the winter it can average 10 deg so it needs to be well insulated. if you got any ideas on what i can do it would be much appreciated cause its only going to get hotter.
thats the problem with growing outdoors in the shed. i wish you best of luck. my only advice is to move indoors or get an ac unit for the shed.
ok so i spent all day making a new grow box and i took it out of the closet into my room. and now its hotter. uhg
I have two lights ->400w HPS +250wHPS: 400w HPS +250wHPS->Delta T=13 F 400w HPS ->Delta T=7.5 F Delta T is the difference between the room temp and inside the grow tent temp . So, the summer is coming, room temp is 80 F -->inside the tent temp is 87 F using only the 400w HPS. Before week, outside was cool, room temp was over 73 F->inside the tent temp was 86-87 F using both lights. That is
hmmmmmm so 80's seem to be perfectly fine. i see i see... maybe i shouldnt be worrying to much as i have been. here you can see my new panda plastic cube. all but bottom and back are panda plastic. panda plastic is easy to cut holes into and run zip ties threw to hold computer fans to. ilove it. its 3x2x2 low pro veg tent i got 5 23w cfl 6000k in there and a fan blowing across all of them and shaking hte seedlings. we'll see whtas up in the morning
you said the new tent is higher temp than the old setup....thats because of the height most likely. your volume of air is greatly reduced, so the heat generated is more concentrated. You could probably put that PC fan on the direct top of the setup, that would help more than being 1/3 of the way down. If you have another fan, then just add it up top in fact, if I had 3, Id do 2 on top, and one blowing into the tent on the bottom. I have no idea how many fans youre working with though. edit for delayed / baked idea. why not take some panda paper, and make a large duct using your box fan. Say, just take the top piece off the tent, and use the entire surface area, tapering down slightly to the fan. deuce a heavy duty, black, extra large trash bag would work too....
