What are the best CFLs to use

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by BugdetGrower, Apr 21, 2016.

  1. Can anyone tell me what the best CFLs to use are. I've got a small stealth indoor grow that can comfortably fit two plants and I have at max 8 light sockets. I was thinking 4 2700k and 4 6500k CFLs. Mostly I'm looking for the right wattage but also an inexpensive buy. Thanks.

Also would these be a good buy?

  2. No those are small wattage. You can get a pack at Wal-Mart or home improvement store cheap. A pack of 23 watt for $8 or so. You can also get 42 watt...those are about 7 a piece or so. You want mainly 2700k for flower and 6400k for veg.

  7. I'm aware. So you think he's going to fit a 600 watt hps in a stealth micro grow?

  8. I went to walmart and looked through all their CFLs. Some claimed to be "daylight bulbs" but the highest amount of lumens where like 1200k

  12. What was the wattage? I used the 23 watts when I first started they worked great if you keep them within 3 inches or so

  13. It's been hit or miss at Wal-Mart for me but I have seen some on occasion. Amazon is a good place to buy. I think $14 for 8 bulbs. Home improvement and dollar stores are good places. Sometimes thrift stores carry new ones. We have a place called bargain hunt and I found a 42 watt for $1 once. I look everywhere I go just in case I come across big bulbs (42 watt+) for cheap

Oh and lumens is different than color spectrum. 1200 lumens is good on a 23 watt. But it'll also have a color spectrum chart on the box telling you what range it's in (2700K, etc). K stands for Kelvin

  17. Good question. He only said small stealth grow. 2 plants

  18. I'm setting up the top self to grow the plants. I've gathered most of the materials except the exhaust and buying the bulbs.

  19. Exactly. If hes in a computer case, I'm gonna turn around, and whistle as I walk away. Idk if a 150w would even work in that.
