Hey all! Long time lurker first time poster. I’m here for your wisdom and to share my progress I live in the Valley of So Cal where it’s basically sunny year round. So I plan to begin my journey with Mother Nature and the outdoors. I don’t know much so please bare with me over time as I ask questions but here’s a breakdown of what I’m planning to do: I plan to purchase high quality seeds for good genetics Here’s the ingredients I plan to premake and fertilize my soil throughout Outdoor ingredients by SunLightSam posted Jun 15, 2019 at 4:26 AM Outdoor ingredients 2 by SunLightSam posted Jun 15, 2019 at 4:26 AM I might switch up and use fox farms soil though. I plan to pH and water by hand. ———— If I don’t go with that soil plan, I’ve been watching this guy on YouTube grow some really top quality indoor buds but he uses soil. It seems super complicated so I might wait till I’ve gone through this “beginners” run but here it is you can give your two sense if you’d like: Herbin Farmer Literally click on any of his videos and he posts the ingredients in the description. So... thoughts, comments, concerns? I have a few questions 1. It gets pretty hot here (over 100*F) is that going to kill my plants? I had a few babies growing in some red solo cups but the day it switched from spring to summer those babies were toast. I think that’s just because they were in too direct of sunlight at that age but I can fix that next time. Definitely don’t want to go through that with some expensive seeds! 2. Speaking of seeds, any recommendations on seed banks? Local if you know any ) 3. Id love some feedback on the soil setup I plan to use maybe some tweaks and such but remember I am a beginner using the outdoors, also I am definitely willing to put a good amount of work into a soil mixture if it’s worth the results. Anyways, thanks for bearing with me guys! I look forward to getting to know the community
Welcome to the forums . Let me try a few fellas for you in your grow area and see if they would like to come along for the ride @Papa Puff @Dr M @BrassNwood @SitnSpin. Anyone of these guys can probably give you some input for your grow and area. Sent with my new and improved pet rock v7.9

Selective shading can help with heat issues; tarp or some such during the mid day if possible. Properly planned, a more permanent structure could also act to harvest rainwater.
you'll find most of us use the soil formula that Brass uses and its in the link to the socal thread..
@SunLightSam While I did build my own soil for the in-ground sites I still tend to use bagged FFOF (Fox Farms Ocean Forest) for my seedlings, young clones and mid stage plants as it's still looser and faster growing then what I can mix. Starting cups are 3x3x3 square. They don't fall over like red solo cups do. The square shape promotes better root branching then round ones. Next is a 5x5x7 deep. Then it's usually outside to flower. I run most of my veg stage in this old garden shed with T5HO strip lights. Being So Calif it doesn't freeze here at the beach so I grow year round. 4 harvests per year are possible in the in-ground sites. This was put out on March 15th and harvested the end of May. Your getting a late start for summer but we can show you how to extend the veg time and still get some nice sized plants to harvest. BNW
@SunLightSam A word on PH. I don't. You can test your own city supply but odds are it's very close to mine. Most of greater So cal has the same water issues. Very high PH @ 8.5. As hot and dry as it is and as much as I water there was no way I was going to PH anything on that scale. My fix was straight hose water and adding Sulfur to my sites. For fertilizer it's a 1 lb scoop of Chicken manure in the hole when I plug in a new plant. Simple and low cost. Lowes for the Manure. BNW
Mr BNW! I need ur knowledge. I got a rosin press and maybe u can help me with exactly how ur weed should be. What Rh? Can u rehydrate weed to make a better press? I see guys doing it. My thoughts are once it's too dried, ur not going to get the oils out??? Sent from my SM-G935T using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I've been watching Hunter at it and I saw your initial press was rather pitiful. Let me see if TTS has more info, I know he was playing with the hair straightener and clamp deal and was watching way more of the pressing vids then I have. BNW
