Service members are subjected to civilian laws and the UCMJ. Being military & accused of being a traitor means you're fucked
Probably. But a punk ass like Bradley asked to be fucked when he made the biggest mistake of his life. If he's such a hero he'd be fighting on the Iranian funded Iraqi insurgent side. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2v-8ctq5x4[/ame]
WTF are you talking about? Why would he be fighting on the insurgents' side. You've totally bought into that polarizing us vs. them mentality. I don't know his beliefs, but just because he's against American militarism doesn't mean he's loyal to Muqtada al Sadr.
I just want to know why exactly the White House has this petition section on their website?
So Americans can feel like there voices really matter and will be heard. So the government can continue the illusion that we have rights. Rights can't just be taken away whenever big brother feel it's necessary, what were once rights have slowly devolved into privileges.
Try Bradley Manning already, pussies. Just so we can all know he is officially and legally, a martyr for peace and justice, as well as freedom.
you make no sense what the... do you talk about half the time in the political section Whistleblower - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
war is peace freedom is slavery ignorance is strength Human rights have been so degraded it isn't anything uncommon, there's little outrage, and it's accepted as the norm. Who's defending civil liberties? Everyone is so "morally" superior, their cause of higher taxation or a better redistribution of wealth is all that's being protested and to be quite honest it makes me sick.
Make a choice be a democrat or a socialist. I understand the UCMJ and the laws concerning information exchange. Still there has to be some measure of decency. John Adams once said that "A true patriot must always be prepared to defend his country from his government" The actions of this service member perfectly embody this ideal. You sound military affiliated so you may remember integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is there to watch and never quitting because the task is hard.
America has gotten soft because it still gives it's citizens the right to a fair trial rather than just executing them?
No. It's hard to tell people who have been born soft how America has gone soft. So I won't. Manning will get a trial, when the time is right and not when a bunch of 18 year olds, sympathizers for anything anti-American and hopeless bleeding hearts throughout the world decide. As for the fort hood shooter when someone is shooting people it's usually a good idea to put him down.
Apples and oranges. Fort hood incident involved a person who was actively shooting people. Bradley Manning has shot no one. Not. A. Combatant. That's like saying, guy A should be put in jail for speeding because guy B was running over people in his F-150. They are both in cars so it makes sense. Apples and oranges.
I didn't compare the 2 in the way you think... There's pretty solid evidence manning did what is alleged. And that would make him a traitor. Oh well, his life could have turned out so much differently.
George Orwell - - In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act. He isn't guilty of anything more than exposing the truth. I pity anyone who thinks he deserves anything other than thanks.
That information would've most likely gotten declassified in due time anyways. The fact is he endangered American and allied lives by doing what he did.
What's your point? Hasn't Obama endangered more American lives by starting imperialist unjustified war? Does a soldier that engages in these wars perpetuate this danger? I don't agree that he's endangered anything at all by telling the truth, but even if he has I'd be happy to let someone "endanger" my life if it meant that the truth would be known. I'm sure you're familiar with the paraphrased quote: "Anyone who would trade liberty for security deserves neither."
He didn't "tell" anything... My point is that the innocent civilians getting killed aren't the only thing he released. He recklessly released hundreds of thousands of cables that had information in them which aided insurgents in killing American and allied lives. He's a traitor to the very people he served with. Iranians would thank him, he made their proxies job that much easier. He became one with the Islamist jihads and now he suffers their same fate.
