What your about to read is the is as close as i can come to describing what the fuck happened last night. Enjoy cuz i fuckin didnt. lol I had theeeeeeee weirdest night of my life yesterday(January 3, 2010)with a friend who i think is schizo now and he is a heavy medical marijuana smoker. He went from smoking 3-4 grams a day to nothing for a month because he was traveling the US. He was acting all normal the entire time, i wud talk to him over the fone and he wud txt me pics of landmarks from all over the US or where he was at. He got back a few days before new years, i met up with him the day he got back to LA and smoked a blunt, everything was cool, he was his normal self. The past 2 days he was acting weird. I dont know how to describe it but he was just acting weird when i would talk to him over the fone. He would sound confused but he wud hold down a conversation with me. But yesterday night OMFG. I called him up asking if he wanted to blaze, he said ya that hell be around Hollywood in an hour. An hour later i called him up and asked where hes at he said hell be here in 15 min. 20 min later i call him and asked where hes at. He kept saying hell be here soon, soon! I said fuck it im not ganna wait for ur ass this long well just blaze another time. He said no ill be there. I asked him were u wanna meet up. He said the usually (we dont have a usual spot) im like wheres that at. Anyway i told him where to meet me. He said hell he there in 1 min, then 15 min, then 1 min again, all in one conversation.(thats what im talking about when i said he sounds confused) Anyway we met finally, We sat down to smoke a blunt of some Skunk OG. Before we sat down to smoke he was acting quiet strange he would make strange noises like ehh or uhh out of no where every couple minutes. I just ignored it because he does weird stuff like that as a joke sometimes. While we where smoking the blunt he kept making those strange noises and would clench his jaw, open up his mouth(kinda like if you smiling but with no grin) and move his eye balls side to side all at the same time . So we finished the blunt and he wanted to smoke another one but we didnt have another blunt or a pipe, so we just sat there for a little bit. Since he was acting quiet strange i asked him is he was on anything else(i always notice when he on something else and always ask, and he always tells me if he is). But that night that question "Are u on anything else?" was like a fucking trigger. Right after i said that he started to say "Oh bro you shouldnt have said that" over and over. From that second on he started to speak to me and pointed to his 8th bottle but instead of words he wud say ehhh, uhhh, and wud start a sentence and end it in mumbling gibberish. I asked him if he was alright he just kept speaking gibberish, about a minute went by and he would, u cud say, come in and out of normal consciousness. He would be normal then the next second start mumbling gibberish again. I started to freakout so i told him i g2g. At first he said "oh ok bro" then wen i got up to go he started to say no no no no. I asked him what wrong, he started to mumble giberish again. So i was about to leave again and he started to say no no no no again. So eventually i left. I said bye and he just sat there looking at me. I didnt hear from him the rest of the night. Today morning around 11:30am he called me asking if i wanted to smoke. I asked him if he was alright and he said ya, so i asked him wat happened yesterday. BOOM there he goes again, he just started to say nope nope no no no no, i told him to hold on one second but he hung up. I called him back he didnt pick up, so i txted him to call me. He called me back right away. I asked him where he was, he told me he was down the street. I told him i left my weed at a friends house that night. He didnt even mention the night before. It was like it never happened to him. Anyway i told him i left my weed at a friend house and dont have any right now. He started to say ohhhhhhhhhh oooooooooooooooooo and just sounded all confused again. I recorded the whole conversation we had. I didnt mention the night before anymore and told him to call me later in the day when i have my weed. What a way to welcome the new year huh? So tell me what you guys think, wtf is going on with this guy? I really think he gone schizophrenic or something. Cuz this guy(even though hes just 21) has done alot of drugs. He has done shrooms weeks on end and PLENTY of coke. And hes at the perfect age where schizophrenia starts to show up if you have it. And psychedelics dont help. Especially shrooms and coke. And he smokes alot of pot everyday!
It didnt seem to me like he was having seizures. It seemed to me like he was able to understand everything i was saying since he did respond several times to some of my comments. It looked like he was going in and out of a "normal state of mind." He was trying to explain something to me while speaking gibberish. He was totally awake and aware of his surroundings but was just saying sentences with all the words were either ehh or uhh. And all of this started when we finished smoking the blunt and were faded. Im sure being faded had something to do with how he was acting.
everything you describe to me sounds like thats what it is..... this type of seizure can go misdiagnosed for years and years as one mental disorder or another...... i didnt just read it...i lived it...... your buddy needs to see a neurologist....that is the only person who and tell him if that is really his problem or not.....
Thnx for the info. Is there certain things i should know or be aware bout this condition or anything i should avoid doing while with him? Or how should i go about dealing with this, since he is my friend and i cant just ignore him forever. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
Honestly none of us (unless any blades are licenced clinical workers, psychologists, pyschiatrists, or doctors) have any business trying to do any kind of diagnosis if thats what your after. That could do more harm than good. Try to get your friend to see a doc, say you'll go with him and list off some of the symptoms he might not be aware of
but would the seizures also cause the weird facial thing he was doing? And at a certain point he had music playin and for a second he stopped and asked me if i hear the music. The more i talk about what happened the more it sounds like TLE. Im reading up on the symptom and WOW its exactly what he was doing!
only the doc can say for sure..... but it is more likely then schizophrenia....going by the given description.... look it up temporal lobe epilepsy... or partial seizures.... and talk your friend into going to see a doc..... triggers can be different for everyone.....
yeah....especially that part...... when i have them i would always here music....often deep and repetitive....but yeah....always music....
Alright thnx for your help man. Sud i be in anyway fearful for my safety when im with him? Is it possible for him to have an episodes and just lash out or anything like that? and how often do they occur? Does it depend of the setting/situation, does anything trigger it?
Yeah, I'm no doctor but I have a feeling it's a neurological problem like epilepsy. Facial tics are a part of it and I think the music he's hearing could be the "aura" experienced before seizures and I think the temporal lobe is for responsible for auditory hallucinations (hearing music) if it's damaged or whatever. Just my 2 cents. Hope he's okay though.
that type of thing can happen...but is usually triggered by something.... talk him into going to the doc! i am just a guy who knows alot on the subject cus i have lived/live it.....so i have done alot of studying.... it would take 12-16 cops and emt's to get me in the ambulance...... but they were trying to make me do something i didnt want to do.....they "had come to take me away".... of coarse i remember none of this.... and can only tell you from what i have been told..... but yeah....there is generally something that would have to trigger that type of behavior..... http://forum.grasscity.com/general/437616-brain-sergery-not-rockit-sceince.html
Ya hes all good, but i talked to him this morning like i said and he was acting weird again. All of this started a few days ago, before that he was just a regular guy, now he acts weird all the time. how long does it last? Does it come and go or is it permanent now? Can drugs like weed trigger a seizure?
Does TLE come and go or is he ganna be like this permanently now? oh and btw he kept complaining about his stomach hurting, does that have anything to do with it?
weed no..... but there have been times....smoking a "stronger" brand of blunt....would give me just a tiny bit of that feeling......but weed is actually an anti-epileptic.... this is something that would explain the inability to talk right or at all....the memory probs ...the ticks.....the music...... he really needs a doc..... he may be having them more and more often..... only a doc can give you real answers here.... i can say....some people with this type of epilepsy...if that is what he has at all? eventually have no grasp on reality at all..... it may never get worse.... it may get much worse..... it may be something elts entirely! personal note......this last september i woke up in the hospital (again) and my hair was an inch longer then i remember it being.....i forgot a good 6 months...... including moving to a new place...meeting new people.....had to be shown where my room was....and "reintroduced" to the new people i had met..... so yeah ...it can get worse......much worse..... if this is the problem he has at all? neurologist!-seriously......
some people have these "episodes" from time to time...some more often then others...... there is no "set schedule" i would have them "back to back" for hrs....days ....months at a time...... having them back to back is called "status epilepticus(sp?)" before waking up in sept in the hospital....i was likely in status for months..... what often happens is they "progress" if he is forgetting what happens....then he is already having "complex" partial seizures.....If this is even the problem at all! i am not a doc! they can progress into generalized or "tonic clonic" seizures.....in my case it was seizure meds that caused that to happen....... anyway ...does your friend drive? how hard is it going to be to get him to go see a doc?
Yup, I could be totally wrong but he should definitely see a neurologist or some sort of doctor pronto!
Wow bro, i just read your story..Fuck...you did live it, the worst way. Im really sorry to hear what happened. I guess watever is wrong with my buddy and MUCH more serious then i thought. When u first found out what was wrong with you, did u except it easily or where u in denial, cuz of i wanna approach my buddy i wanna no how he will react
no two people are the same.....how he reacts may be nothing like how i reacted.... i was not happy bout it....but dealt with it well....... you still have to get him to a doc to see if this is really his problem or not..... you cant just take my word for it!
