i just bought a 400watt electric balast. i installed it today and left it alone to see the temps,, well the got up to 100 degrees so i put a new fan and the temps are going down but now i notice like a weird smell.. kinda like a gas but its not that, it just smells weird im worried cuz its a strong smell worse than my babys lol maybe i have to break the light in
Yea it's a weird smell not like burning tho like a gassy smell I just added another fan to cool things down so I'll keep it posted
not to worry...i had the same thing happen to me. the smell is coming from the ballast right? i took mine back to the hydro shop, the guy took it apart and tested it. he said its 100% good to go. the smell went away after a few days.
