All, I'm buying a high end piece tonight... figured I'd consult everyone here first. Top contenders: SG 50mm Stemline $310 SG King Stemline $360 Dirty Rico Stemless Inverted Apocoline $350 SGW Single Waffle $300 SYN Tall Showerhead $260 Vertigo Tiny Inline to Showerhead $350 I've also given thought to grabbing something a little cheaper than these and adding an ash catcher for ease of cleaning. You all know where I'm shopping, weigh in with your thoughts, moans, groans, or additional things I should consider.
Me and my buddy bought a SYN disc perc (I got it) and he got the tall shower head and it's an an amazing piece. (secretly wish i would have got it instead) without hitting the others I can't really compare them but the shower his shower head jonts and was a smooth piece with basically no drag. I've had my eyes on ALL of those pieces besides the Dirty rico and vertigo and honestly you can't go wrong with any of those pieces. In my opinion you can't go wrong with any of those pieces you listed and pretty much anything you hear from anyone else will probably be personal opinion. Go with which one you like best and you'll never go wrong
Out of all those I would agree with TheCanadian. Get the king stem and add a carbon filter, you won't be disappointed.
Two for the king stem and one for the SYN. The 100 dollar price difference is nothing to scoff at, but the SG is pretty legendary...
dude dirty rico for sure, guy used to blow the stock glass for aqua tec, good qulity pieces for cheap. Sov is good but just an inline gets old after a wile. Waffle is tiny and is better for dabing. Vertigo would be a solid piece too
Why does just an inline get boring? I've never had one before, just plain old beakers. I do like the look of the dirty rico a lot.
It doesn't, My king stem downgrid was my first high end purchase and I love it. It's a stemline not an inline btw.
Out of all of these, i would go with the SGW- Waffle. My friend owned a king stem, and he complained that it's just way too airy, and that all the holes do not fire up/diffuse at once. Also it is a good amount bigger than the SGW. The SGW is a very nice sized piece, and the function is really good.
I own a SG straight stemline, and have friends that own the SG King Stemline and the SGW Waffle V1. My preference is my 19" 50x5mm stemline. Then the SGW because it has a similar hit, but it's shorter and I end up with wet lips sometimes. (a V2 would probably solve this). I completely agree with the Kingstem comment, more airy than the other two tubes. It's great for taking monster rips, but not as flavorful as the other two. I've never hit a downgridded kingstem though, so that might have a different hit than an upgrid. Not sure if it matters at all, but a straight tube like the 50x5 or waffle tube will be more sturdy than a piece that has a reduced bore mouthpieces. Something to possibly take into consideration. And I'd nix the ash catcher idea. I bought a nice Sheldon Black one for my first straight tube, but now I rarely use it. I've found I prefer the draglessness and taste out of single chamber pieces much more than adding another water chamber.
Thanks for all the input everyone. I wound up going with the Dirty Rico Stemless Inverted Apocoline. Without a doubt they all would have been great pieces, it wound up coming down between the SG King and the Dirty Rico... I just had to have something a bit more unique. Either way, they will both hit like champs.
