Weed that has ona gel in it. Is it safe?

    Hey guys so recently I picked up a half oz of some Bermuda punch #2 from a dispo out in Detroit that’s ive bought some weed from before. Everything I’ve gotten in the past from this place has been good and smelled like some dank. This weed I got this time instantly smelled strange to me kinda like perfume or laundry detergent. It also tasted like this(smoked a bowl to try it, got decently high). I did some research and discovered it must’ve been grown with something called ona gel? And it got on the weed or something? It doesn’t smell like weed at all and whatnot I’m wondering is if it’s safe to smoke and if it’ll still get me high as if it didn’t have the ona gel or whatever?

    Could be the strain of weed. I've grown out a couple of strains that just smelled wrong but it was the strain and not a contaminant. One was a Lavender clone from a shop and the other was a back crossed breeding of my own.
    The Lavender smelled like Tide Laundry detergent and my cross smelled like an open can of turpentine-Paint thinner.
