Weed is making me really paranoid and self conscious?

  1. Sup guys. I love weed and all, but i've noticed that a few days after i smoke, i become really self conscious when at school etc. But when i'm off weed for a week or so, i feel much more confident about myself. Also, when im high i become SUPER paranoid and self conscious. I tried going to the gym high with my friend yesterday and i saw my neighbor and a few people from school and i almost had a panic attack. How can i control myself so i do not become like this?
  2. The only thing I can say is that i also used to have the EXACT same feeling when I first started smoking. After I now smoke everday I've gotten over that feeling and now its just pure bliss. I think its just takes some getting used to buddy.
  3. I agree with ^ you might just need to get used to it. Just remember that no one can really tell your high short of a saliva test, and who carries those around? If your eyes are red just blame it on allergies. I never really felt paranoid, but if you dont want to feel that way smoke in a safe and secure place that you feel comfy with.

  4. if you are prone to schizophrenia weed will enhance it. stop smoking... i have a friend that gets locked up in a mental institute 4 times a year.
  5. Youre just (possibly subconsciously) afraid that its obvious youre high. With more experience, this feeling fades and eventually disappears.
  6. I doubt hes schizophrenic as hes not hallucinating or anything, and if you have it you're pretty much Fked already, its the cancer of psychology. If your friend has schizophrenia its probably not the weed thats making him go to the asylum though it might exacerbate it.
  7. I have social anxiety (pretty much what you described, but not induced by weed). Do you know what kind of weed you're smoking? I've found that sativas can worsen the effects while indicas allieviate them - I actually use weed to medicate my anxiety. So perhaps try an indica if you're not already?

    And wtf how is this even remotely like schizophrenia?

  8. yeah i also have social anxiety, i usually smoke indicas but they still seem to make me self conscious. Weed seems to make my anxiety worse, but only when people are around
  9. who the hell works out high... just work out then smoke... but seriously dude just chill out your more noticable when your paranoid then when you just chill out. People who act paranoid/are paranoid = get caught. people who act chill = dont get caught + have a better time.
  10. Well if you have social anxiety, then it makes sense that it would only be when people are around. If you think that it's making things worse, then stop. At least until your anxiety is under control.

    As for controlling anxiety/panic attacks... I find breathing to be extremely important. Concentrate on slow deep breaths (in for 7 seconds, out for 11 if you can). Try to distract yourself. If you have to, remove yourself from the situation for a few minutes and then go back. I've been told about a ton of ways to control anxiety by therapists (nothing google wouldn't turn up, I'm sure). It's just about finding what works for you. I strongly advise you don't avoid social situations though - speaking from experience, it only makes things worse in the long run.

    i usted to get the same feeling whenever i would walk into school high.

    its all in you head. everyone is self sonscious. just put a smile on and dont give a shit what people think, if people are truly judgemental then they have their own problems to worry about. once you get older it will go away by its self, hopefuly
  12. what is wrong with people knowing you are high? everyone knows im high and if they dont they should as far as im concerned. i have situational anxiety and weed kicks it off sometimes, but it has nothing to do with people knowingim high, i look like a classic stoner, damb near shaun white lookalike.

    Don't be afraid to bitch out after a bowl or two if you've already smoked enough
    It's something I still do and I have enjoyable highs pretty much every time.
    Also after you get used to getting high it wont even effect you
  15. The best solution might be not to get high when you're going to be out around people.

    Gotta examine why you're doing it. If it's not making experiences better, stop.
  16. just be yourself buddy, high or not. Dont get scared when you see people, plus why do you even care what they thing, and if u feel uncomfortable around them and dont want to talk, its not like anyones making u just dont say a damn thing, i dont talk alot when im around people im not close to, nothing wrong with that. Just stop worrying so much and chill out
