Weed is legal . . .

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by Hashed Out, Nov 8, 2012.

  1. What the fuck? Colorado and Washington.

25% tax... from grower, to dispensary, to patient.

And you must be 21. What the fuck dude

  2. Yeah man. The prohibition is almost over!

  3. U mad bro? Grow your own.

  4. uuuuhhhhhh

dispensary and patients are only through mmj, which has been legal here for a while and got ridiculously lenient in 2009....

It will be a 25% tax, on the sale to the consumer..

seriously... read up on shit before you complain about it lol

  5. OP has a point I mean certain um... parts of the industry, let's say, are gonna start disappearing due to the beginning of this trend in legalization. This trend basically translates to loss of jobs in all actuality. :bongin: Just sayin'.

  6. are you talking about illegal dealers?

1 dealer loses his taxless job, a pot shop opens and employs a handful of growers, and in store workers

you clearly didnt consider it requires employees to open up a shop lol....

and just to clarify, if you are selling illegally, and want to whine about perhaps having to get a job, i have NO sympathy for you lol (not saying you at all, im speaking to the world with that one)

  7. You've got a point there man, I didn't consider that. Good one.

  8. And if the illegal dealers go legal they will create more jobs and their current clients will most likely stick with them if they open a shop.

  9. Yeah I'm really interested in seeing how the pricing all pans out. I doubt the price will change much (if at all in WA, shit's already so cheap as it is)

we know for sure that there will be a 25% tax on it. That is unavoidable. But how much are the growers gonna be willing to sell it for, and then how much are the stores gonna be willing to sell it for?

Assume $30/ounce from grower to dispensary (pretty lowball estimate, but whatever. I just picked a number). Add a 25% tax on that, equates to $37.50. Stores tend to sell stuff for like 2-5 times their wholesale cost (maybe slightly more or less, I dunno, we also have to figure out the chain of distribution, is it gonna be grower->wholesaler->store, grower->store, grower->wholesaler->smaller wholesaler-> store, I dunno) so that's already $75/ounce, at very, very, very minimum. Bomb deal haha, but I doubt it will be like that.

Also, is that 25% a luxury tax including sales tax or is that just a luxury tax? Sales tax would be another 10%ish percent, not to mention municipal taxes which will also probably come into play.

Plus, if the supreme court does rule in favor of this, the federal government is gonna want some moolah too

  10. It'd be hilarious if a street dealer who was constantly telling his customers that his shit was the bomb. Yo I just got some bomb shit. It's Lemon Haze. When really he has no idea, he's just throwing a name on whatever kind of weed he's selling.

Then he gets a job in a weed store, and somebody comes in and asks him what they got. His response, "weed man, this is a weed store, right?"

  11. okay would u rather get arrested for it? complain about it when its legal this might save America.

Yea, the tax may be high but the first 40 mil in revenue, every year, goes into the public education system

Ill pay a little bit of tax to keep kids educated lol

  13. yeah I agree, at least it's for a good cause.

though if we just decriminalized it and redirected all the funding spent trying to prevent marijuana usage, that'd be better

I'm really just pissed off about the DUIs and the possession limitations, that's my main flaw with WA's I502

  14. I don't see anything wrong with the 21 ordeal.... Hey mister mf hey mister.

  15. and 37 for an ounce is fucking incredible.. as opposed to street prices so... don't see what the bitching is for

Oh, the education revenue is colorado only haha, I dunno about WA.... and its been decriminalized in colorado for a long while lol

  17. way to read like half what I posted

those were absolute lowball estimates too, the actual prices are gonna be waaaaaaaaay higher

no grower is gonna be willing to sell his bud for $30/ounce and if he is, he's probably a part of a larger scale grow op which requires greater overhead/more labor= more people to pay= more money per ounce sold

  18. OP, dont whine about having to be 21 when you can be 40 in 99% of the world and face prosecution.
Appreciate what you have and shut the fuck up, only a handful of places in the whole world have prosecution free cannabis use and your whining about having to be 21 ?

  19. lol I dunno man... even if you triple that thats less than PO price for half...

I guess decriminalization was the wrong word haha

again though, these are really just number I pulled out of my ass haha, they are somewhat truthful but cannot be interpreted as fact. The trend is the thing that I'm worried about.

if x is the grower's price, 1.25x is the price from grower to store. Stores wanna make a lot (like I had a friend who's mom worked for neutrogena, she told us they sold their stuff for like 20 times what they get it from the factories for)

1.25x (what percentage the stores wanna make)=price the consumer pays.

so you're really looking at anywhere from 250% the price that the grower sells it for to 2500% of what the grower sells it for (assuming the neutrogena example)

and none of this is even including regular sales tax
