Weed flavor

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by donkey12, Jan 21, 2010.

  1. is there a way that you can add some flavor to your weed or something that you can do during flowering to make it taste better? i heard that adding mollasses during flowering makes a smooth smoke?

  2. There is no way to flavor your weed. Think about it. I grow with fish emulsion and bat guano. Is my weed going to taste like fish guts and bat shit?

If you want your weed to taste better, flush before you harvest. Then dry and cure properly.

Molasses does not enhance the flavor. Just gives your plant extra carbs during the flowering process.

    Good luck.

  3. LMAO ok you made your point

  4. I actually read a thread on here that explained how to do that with certain extracts like vanilla, orange, etc and apparently you feed it to your plant nearing the end flowering.

  5. Let's see that post.

  6. wow thnx for this link!!!!!!!!!

  7. if you give a shot let us know how it works for you!!thanks:smoking:

  8. Don't add flavors to your weed, it just doesn't work. The plant's roots uptake nutrients, not complex chemical compounds. In fact, the plant relies on beneficial microorganisms in the soil to break down chemical compounds in to basic nutrient elements, otherwise it could not uptake them. So the roots cannot uptake vanilla extract or anything like that.

But even if somehow you got actual vanilla inside your plant, you are assuming it will still smell and taste the same, as though the plant would not transform it at all. But the plant would change it. And finally, you are assuming that the flavor of vanilla when that extract hits your tongue directly will be the same as when you burn the vanilla and inhale the smoke. It won't be.

The best way to get flavor from your MJ is to use organic nutes, grow stress-free buds, flush before harvest, harvest at the right time, and dry and cure properly.

  9. I don't think it adds flavor. I think the flush itself is just scented. Which makes about as much sense as fruit scented markers for kids.

    Good luck.

I dont know what youve been smoking mad4reef:smoking: but you kinda prove yourself wrong.
If whenever you added blueberry concentrate to your bud it "often times tastes like" blueberries then how havent you flavored your your herb? What is the difference between flavoring something and adding a taste? Your arguing against yourself.

Joe Luxon's thread makes it very clear I think that whatever solute you add into your H2O solution before harvest will make its way into the plant. In fact it is so simple if you break it down. Can you argue that plants absorb water (and that that water can contain solutes)? And can you argue that having powerful flavenoids in a flower will not add a flavor or aroma to it? I dont think you can and thats really all this process is. If you added bitters into your plants final drink and then chopped up the herbs to make a salad (just to prove a point) i am willing to bet money that your bud would put the bitterness of iceberg lettuce to shame.

To me it is obvious that flavoring your weed is a completely realistic possibility

  11. I couldn't really say if it's possible. It does sound kinda iffy.

  12. My brother from tanzania told me over there they have drying rooms built above kitchens so all the smells and flavour from them cooking goes into the bud. I have NFI if this works have never tried it, just been told.

  13. In the traditional sense, you will not add additional flavors to your buds by adding "flavoring" to your soil or hydroponic solution. Period.

    Thanks!

I guess that depends on your definition of "traditional sense". I'm not exactly sure what you mean but if I taste vanilla in the smoke of some purp kush then to me that means a flavor has been added.

If you add bat guano right before harvest will your herb not taste like shit? Isn't that just another, less desirable form of flavoring? And you should know better than me that this has been known to happen.

  15. Neither bat shit nor vanilla enters the plant. If those things can be broken down into simple nutrient elements then the plant can uptake them (that's definitely the case with bat shit, not sure about vanilla, but either way it no longer would be vanilla if it were broken down). The reason weed tastes bad if it's been fed right up until harvest is not that you're tasting bat shit, it's that you are tasting the burning of nutrient elements (potassium, phosphorous, etc) that were stored in the plant.

  16. The best way to get flavor on your bud is to buy a tobacco flavoring of some kind. I have vanilla. A few drops on a gram of weed, and now you have weed that smells like vanilla and tastes like it too.

  17. I can't believe that tasty puff shit is legal, or approved by the FDA. The fact that most reviews (by people on GC) say that they litrially cant taste the Pot anymore, just flavouring, makes me believe theres some hardcore chemicals being burnt up and ntering your bloodstream along with the THC.
    Fuck that shit.
