weed and dopamine

    okay so it has been shown that THC releases dopamine in the striatum. It doesn't release as much dopamine as other drugs like E though right? that explains why you don't feel like shit the day after smoking a bunch of ganja. but you do feel burnt-out after smoking a bunch of weed? is this why? also,

    This led me to a theory that is not backed by any facts other than the idea that dopamine is indeed released in the brain from marijuana. Marijuana, when taken in small doses throughout the day can act as an excellent anti-depressant, but when smoked in copious amounts( a sesh or really anything big enough to make you burn-out after) will have the opposite effect.

    anybody wanna weigh in?
     
  2. what do the dopamine/ seratonin levels, and actually the brain chemistry in general of a marijuana smoker look like compared to a non-smoker?

    Weed releases dopamine indirectly via cannabinoid antagonization. Since it's indirect it can't reek havok on dopamine since the cannabinoid receptors turn off as a mediator. That particular unmentionable releases a shitload of serotonin and that's why you feel like shit the next day, it straight up antagonizes serotonin so much that a good amount of the receptors shut off, and it's fairly toxic so it straight up destroys a few of the neurons as well, causing more long term depression. It does antagonize dopamine a lot more than weed since it does it directly and it is an amphetamine, but not nearly as much as serotonin which is the real cause of the depression the next day.


    Try taking 5htp the next day if you want to avoid the shitty feeling. It's the precursor to serotonin so your body can produce more.

  7. Idk I agree with your theory. Just from experience if u take a couple hits I feel great with little to no burnout/sluggishness afterwards. Compared to sessions where it's multiple bowls, or fat blunt..I feel good for a while but when I start coming down I just feel really tired for a good while after blazing. Ima try to cut my intake and basically use the herb 'better' I guess you could say. But I'll always love gettin blowed once in a while despite the somewhat negative effects afterwords.
     
  8. As long as you smoke in moderation, you should probably be fine. If you feel sluggish, then I have a weird tip that will make your dopamine levels/'reserves' constantly high.

  10. This may sound weird, but stop masterbating, try it for like a week. See,when you masterbate, you release large amounts of dopamine, if you refrain, however, it'll build up again. By the end of that week, you'll be really energetic. Sorry about the bump

  15. I don't think you guys read that the way I intended it to be read.
    Ganja is the same thing as weed, but being burnt out and feeling like shit the day AFTER smoking are two separate things entirely.
     

  16. 5 htp helps a lot. And @OP I wouldn't so much call it a "burned out" feeling as much as a pleasant afterglow haha.
     

  17. Yeah but it can make me tired which isn't plesent, especially when I smoke in the mourning, or during the day. That's why you should smoke small bowls according to my theory.
