    So those days I was thinking about smoking weed.Tomorrow me and a friend of mine are going to smoke.I am smoking for the first time in my life.So the only thing that holds me back from smoking all these years is the idea that weed will destroy my academic perfomance.I always was a straight A student and I dont want to mess things up...Please help me and advice me!!

    went to college. got a 4.0. smoked weed everyday. now work for wells fargo as a financial advisor. YOU CAN DO IT!

    Simple. Don't make your life revolve around weed, revolve weed around your life. It will only invade your academics if you let it (for example don't go to class stoned or smoke when you are supposed to be studying- stuff like that). I'm not a straight A student but my GPA is a 3.7 and I manage it just fine. If anything, it will open your mind more and make you think about discussions in your academics deeper. When you do toke up for the fist time, my biggest advice is relax. ... and it wouldn't hurt to read the Comprehensive Guide to Smoking Using Various Paraphernalia that is posted on GC.

    What are you afraid of? It is not like weed suddenly makes you retarded. As long as you study in the right mind, you will retain quite well.

    The actual weed won't make much of a difference. Just don't study high, it may kind of work, but it's never as good as studying sober, and that's a fact. Unless your degree is in Liberal Arts, in which case it may be beneficial, I don't know.

    no permanent brain effects. theres recent studies.. just dont smoke for your first time and try to take the SATs :D

    It won't effect you academicaly if you're responsible an keep all your priorities straight, I got all A's and one B and I regulary went to school stoned

    If you're doing it during your free time I don't see how it could be a problem, it can be a problem the same way obsessing over computers games can be a problem, if you just play games when you have the time and you still take care of your schoolwork then it's not an issue, but many young people can't do the balancing act.

    You are quite right.I always thought that weed would mess the way I think but I was not informed well...Tonight is the Big night!!!Toking for the first time!!!

    Well you are right...My degree is in Astrophysics!Dont really think that being high while studying will benefit me! haha!

    Smoked every day in undergrad. Went to class high. Got a 3.34. Currently a law student. Still go to class high.

    not to be a dick but as a student of economics, i'd be more worried about the influx of foreign job participants and your economy than the influence of marijuana on your academic standing. If anything marijuana gave me the wherewithal to see things from a different perspective that I may have not seen from my own sober perspective

    just started taking physics (im a grad student a little behind) very confusing trying to understand a german nuclear physicist right after smoking my volcano :smoke:
