I believe that belief is a programmed one. To keep a different balance - elite on top, everyone else on bottom... forever.
Imagine if marijuana was legalized, and the entire world became passive. Then we become stagnant. Humans are not designed to be stagnant. This universe is not designed to be stagnant. With destruction comes growth, it's the way of all things. We destroy ourselves, yet grow, evolve, transform as a species with each death. If it is a lie, I say, then everything is, from the formation of our planet down to our cellular biology. Peace is useless. We are not a useless species.
The elite will always be in top, that's why they're the elite. Then, in turn, the non elite want to be elite, and should do everything in their power to be elite, and will either be successful or die trying. Peace is the programmed idea. The elite cater to the natural instinct of fear and survival, and tell you to give peace and love a chance, only to make you passive and thus more submissive.
Thats a good point, like a pheonix rising from the ashes more beautiful than before, the world does the same, and us humans do too. However i think our need for war is born out of primitive territorialism. We have a need to stake our territory and defend it. As for attacking other people, we are all basically tribes and that is just tribal warfare, we may think of ourselves as sophisticated and above animals, yet it is those primitive behaviors that form the very core of our social experiences and ethics. idk if that makes any sense, sorry if it doesnt
unfortunately i think you might be right. balance will come. think more subtly though. some individuals are so sensitive that they could potentially bring balance to the world with a particularly horrifying dream, or a devastating loss of love. i thought about this sort of thing last summer. i was in the midst of revelry at All Good music festival and i realized that while this beautiful display was going on, someone was getting shot to death as a population starves. i guess even within something like a festival there is balance. almost like fractals within fractals. i wonder how big it gets in relation to the entire universe, not just human kind. the planets are huge players in an even bigger game.
I don't know. I think if we took all the effort put towards war and killing others and put it towards something more efficient we could achieve a lot more.
You'd think, but we keep having these testosterone driven monkey thoughts about strengthening ourselves by destroying ourselves. An inferior society is always born of the notion that violence is acceptable as a means of social correction. We don't need war, we need tolerance, truth, and forgiveness. Then we can wage 'war' on other things, like inequality, and desperation, and disease, the true enemies of our species. War is Passe. Lay down your arms, and link arms, I say.
What is achievement? Do you have an immune system? It's way, way beyond monkeys. Construction, destruction, construction, destruction, the exponential increase of 'development'. Infinite change. These are simply ideas, that will exist, forever, whenever there are sides. There will always be sides. There's sides before you're born, there's sides while you're living, there's probably sides when you die. There is no equality. We must continue bickering amongst ourselves until another side is introduced, and then we will wage war with that side. There will always be inequality and desperation. There is no end. There will always be war, internally and externally. We need to stop fearing death.
To whom is it useless to? Perhaps to you - but then again, would you go out and kill another man for the sake of the "growth" and "evolution" of our species? I would like to see you play God and deem it necessary for another man to sacrifice his life against his will, for some obscene belief you have. For once, H20, I am in complete disagreement with you, and I'm shocked that something like this rings true for you. Edit: "we" need war? What is "we" ? Is "we" you? And, what is the usefulness of usefulness?
Great post. However, i dont necessarily agree that the entire world would become passive if cannabis was legalized. think of all the great strain battles! genetic wars! pricing competition, soil space etc... mad possible problems. on a different note, when people say that we are loosing progress in some fashion by fighting and killing each other, we might stop and think; Progress towards what? If it's peace, then where do we go from there?
perhaps we could exist in ecstasy, collectively as a functioning piece of art. an expression of love.
Or as a mathematical equation for the eternal expansion of our awareness throughout the universe, which as far as we know, will never end. A self replicating god construction team that overtakes planets that have been running away from our self limiting militarism and internal loathing until now, but which we can begin now to chase after, and explore, as new experiments of social engineering, and the creation of unity. Basic Star Trek logic, really. War is the anti-formula for success.
'We' is the human race. We will war with ourselves until we find something else to fight, which in turn will fight with us. Balance. I'm personally not into killing, but that's just me. There's other people who are really into it and actually pretty good at it. This is unbiased, emotionless H2O. I've never promoted peace. I promote...well-oiled gears. Peace =/= love. Peace =/= compassion. Peace, ironically, is just something to fight about. An intangible, fairytale idea that pushes us forward in the realm of uncertainty, as its supposed to. This thread so far is a very fine example. The human spirit rallies against cruelty, pain, and death, while simultaneously unleashing it in the most gruesome ways possible. If nobody is right, then nobody is right. We are self-serving apes trying to outdo one another. Be it promoting peace, or promoting war, the variables are interchangeable. Whether we make our own decisions or are just watching ourselves play out a master plan, this feeling is in my heart, and it was going to be expressed, perpetuating the fight. As its supposed to. We live to fight.
True, lol. I know quite a few people who smoke weed and are still assholes regardless. But generally we'd be a lot more passive, imo. Which, hell, just might be enough to do us in.
some do. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tqxzWdKKu8]YouTube - Dueling Banjos Deliverance[/ame] some are just playing
When you jump from facts at a molecular level, and attempt to apply them as universal laws with deep underlying substantiative causes for the direction of life in the universe, it's no surprise you end up with a bunch of bullshit applicable at the level originally used in the example. It's even worse when you try and take meanings and implications from the laws in the context of events and solvable problems in your day to day life, which no universal ideology can truly assist you with. this is like fucking bible study
Precisely, precisely. GOD told Adam and Eve not to eat the apple from the tree. Yet they did it anyway. If we have no respect for god, why would we respect each other? It's the pursuit. It's the chase. The drive to prove each other wrong.
