  1. Hi everyone. Never posted in this forum yet, because well I never had to. But now my father, who has been invincible to me all my 19 years of life, has a tumor on his pancreas that is inoperable due to its location around an artery. Thankfully they ruled out radiation in favor of some more intense form of chemo. But they still aren't sure if it's even going to give him more than a couple more years.
I just recently started growing my own weed, for fun of course as I am perfectly healthy (for now). I want to know some things about medical MJ because I believe strongly in its healing powers. I've read it can stop the feeding and development of tumors, as well as help deal with chemo. My questions are what does it do for chemo patients? What makes medical MJ effective (more THC? more CBN/CBD/THC byproducts)? And what strain can I grow that'll work, and based on desired chemicals, should I harvest early or late?
I figure for pain relief a late harvested indica would be the choice. But he's not dealing with pain here, he's dealing with an assault on his bodily systems. He doesn't smoke, but I've seen the pictures from the 70s, he probly would if it weren't for us kids and the teaching job he has to leave. Any info is tremendously appreciated, or just tell me where to look. My best wishes to all the other sufferers out there, and their families.

  2. the main reason people use weed when having chemo is because it helps with the nausea and appetite. i suppose it could help with the pain also, but there are other medications for pain, although weed is quite effective for some people....

personally i dont know anyone whos having chemo and smokes weed....so i cant really tell you much more than that...

good luck to you and your family...

  3. This is the post I just made in another thread here. I'll cut out the part about my insomnia as it doesn't apply.

I didn't get rid of all his pain, but it made it bearable. It let him keep food down so he stopped wasting away. For 3 or 4 days after every weekly cycle he was basically immobilized. He could barely walk, he couldn't eat and vomited all the time. It started to get better after that and just as he was feeling a bit better, he sat in a chair for another 6 hours and had to do it all over again.
Smoking let him walk around the house the next day. He could stand in front of the stove and cook himself lunch. He could keep his lunch out of the trashcan. It saved him.

Talk to your dad about it. You can show him my posts. You or him can ask me any questions you want, and I'll try my best...

It's terrible what your family is/will go through. This can help him, and if he doesn't realise it then you have to talk to him.

  4. Thanks Blazin I don't think he can say no to a testimonial like that. He smokes cigarettes, and they never admitted to it but I know my parents used to smoke, so I think he'll go for it. I hear the same thing everywhere I look about it being the only way to keep food down, and he's already lost a few pounds since his first visit to the hospital, and he was never very big. If anything he should smoke for that.
Still if anyone knows a particular strain I can grow that will be better than the bagseed for theraputic use, let me know what you think. I got the power to grow might as well use it.

  5. The American Alliance for Medical Cannabis website says:

Which is actually the opposite of what I thought. If possible, let him try a couple different ones before you grow. But you're best bet might be something close to 50/50. I'm not sure the percentages, but B-52 is supposed to be a nice blend of the two. It'll probably be my first grow for that reason.

    Good luck.

  6. That's what I was figuring too. I was thinking a 50/50 mix, and strong as hell. I always thought the indica stone was better for pain though. He's not feeling too well anymore so I'm gonna pop the question and we'll just have to find out whats the best medicine.

  7. I have no personal experience with MM, but I do buy from a friend who get's whatever strain I ask for from a club in Frisco. I recently had surgery on my knee, and the pain is almost unbearable. Vikodin didn't help at all, it make me nauseaus, and I threw up all the time. I then tried mj, and found pure indica strains to work wonders. whenever I get imense pains in my knee, some indica mj will put it to sleep, while sativa will make the paint intense. Just talk to your dad and find what works best for him.

  8. my mom had cancer, so i kind of know what you're going through. the best thing to do would be to follow every order your/his doctor gives you/him, get the best doctor you can (there's no excuse really not to, life's far more important than money) and i hope that everything works out for you as well!

  9. It didn't even occur to me that not everyone has the same medical system we do. I can't imagine what added stress would be caused for people who can't easily afford this....
My grandpa had his a heart attack and had to have a procedure done (angiogram I think...) while he was in Arizona and in the end I believe it cost them $750 000. I'm assuming this would be at least as expensive...
