I don't grow. I forget if I read somewhere or heard through talk of someone growing a plant, taking it out of the soil 8-10 hours before harvesting.they then shake the dirt off the roots and put it in a bucket of I guess fyed flavored syrup for like a slurpee or something... And supposedly the plant absorbs the dye/flavor.. I know they put white roses in various dyed waters to make a tie dye effect on the leaves..so I mean if it works for roses would it work for bud? I'm just curious I heard this awhile ago and figured I'd ask some seasoned growers what they think

  2. This not correct information. The plants do not take up additions to the soils to enhance flavors. The flavor and smell of the plant come from terpenes produced by the plant, not by adding flavors to the soil. There is no science to support this incorrect theory. Suggestions like this come from new growers with no understanding of plant growth. Do not try this at home kids.

  3. But wouldn't the plant suck up the liquid just like water..it'd not added to the soil but the plants dropped into the dyed or whatever liquid few hrs before harvesting...it's how they dye roses... Not saying to do it or not, I have no experience growing I'm just curious. I guess the science is the fact it works with other plants.

  4. I certainly am not smoking that shit. That's not even something I'm curious about, I'm not sure why you are. It's not something you should be smoking so who cares?

Now, if this was a natural dye that occurred in nature and it affected potency, i'd be interested...but it's not, and it's one of the most asinine things I've ever fucking heard. This really just works with white flowers for the most part, and like you say, roses, but not marijuana. The only flower part on weed is the little pistils and I don't think the biology is there for them to absorb the dye. If anything it will sit in the veins of the leaves or stem, and that's if the root system doesn't filter it out, which actually does occur in most plants.

I hope you never become a dealer with ideas like this. Who knows what kinds of dangerous shit you'll come up with to poison your customers.

  5. The best I ever saw was a fairly lengthy thread in the *advanced* section @ RIU, 5+ years ago.

It involved top dressing with Capt'N Crunch cereal. What made it so funny was some treated it as a serious discussion.

    I mean ... Really?

Don't know, never tried it personally and don't plan to.

Plenty of whack-jobs swear by it. Basic knowledge of plant physiology dictates that it's a pipe dream. Terpenes/terpenoids are what lend flavor to herb, not syrup or sugars.

Here are some threads from the "Advanced" Growing Techniques forum dealing with the subject...

  7. If you want colored buds, buy selections that are genetically prone to colors at harvest time. To enhance the flavors use fertilizer with sulfur and harvest at first light to preserve the terpenes produced in the dark cycle.

i agree with all of you... I don't think people should smoke dye lmao... It was purely a curiosity question... Posion customers? Well I don't deal, I'm a medical patient and my illness has put me through extensive suffering. I certainly would not want someone to get sick and see any sort of suffering I have seen. It was actually insulting to accuse me of wanting to harm people. All I asked was a simple question I didn't tell anyone to do it or smoke it or anything...... I get purple sour d..blue dream..I have access to good color/flavorful strains..I was just curious if what I heard when I was like 15 had any relevance to the real world lol
i posted earlier and it seemed like everyone just assumed I was telling them to do what my question was...it was deluded

  9. but really not for nothing....dye is in EVERYTHING you consume... Write to your politicians to BAN red#40 and replace it with dye from beets...red ##40 is banned in the European Union.. From health concerns...all their dyes are made from plant matters or vegetables or insects which is rather eat than factory made dye...if everyone is so worried about eating organic..let's start with our most important thing...the food supply

  10. Hmmm... What would I pick...

    Root beer! :)

    No, wait...

    Ribs!

guys you are clearly not seeing the potential here...

you put them in a bowl of melted rosin so they suck it all up. then when your plants are dry you make rosin out of the rosin infused buds.
    bam! double potency rosin!

  12. Some strains are known to turn purple when exposed to cold temperatures late in flowering but tbh op just grow some cheese if you want a full on flavour strain.

  13. Amen.

  14. I honeslty would not smoke if i knew it was dyed... why? Why you so shitty to dye your weed bro? Get more cash and buy some colored strains

  15. Was just an idea...but go figure this....imagine throwing the plant in a bucket of pure organic vanilla extract for a day or so.. Ill bet the plant will have some sort of a vanilla flavor??? What do you guys say bout that idea? This is jsut brain storming and bullshitting... I don't get shitty weed...I don't grow..don't start flaming me saying i get bad weed or I'm trying to spread the consumption of non organic food colorings like some of you have so ignorantly already done, i won't even bother quoting people that can't hold an intelligent conversation. They say some strains are pre disposed to color...some say it's stress on a plant such as too much nutrient/ not enough or cold weather...heck some even say the pH of the soil can change colors. . more acid equals red hues and alkaline equals blue

  16. now I'll go cash the bowl of Haley's hope and lost coast og I just packed **mic drop** [IMG][IMG]

  17. never had cheese but def on my list...hoping the dispensary gets some

  18. It's big in the UK, one of the only strains we've brought to the game. If you ever see Big Budda cheese get it!
