way to add co2 to your op?

  1. Baking Soda Volcano

this link is to some science experiment for kids in which you make a baking soda volcano.

a byproduct of this chemical reaction that creates the "lava overflow" effect is our good friend CO2, so i was wondering if anyone had any input on doing something like this around the plants helping them.

apparently the chemical reaction is edible (sounds like it woudl taste disgusting) so i do not think it is going to harm the plants doing it in a bucket in the same room .

    any input?

There are ways to make CO2, most people say it isn't worth it because if you have adequate airflow, it's just going to get blown out of the grow area before the plant has time to make use of it.

Other people say the yeast and sugar method works fine for small grows.

Baking soda volcano may release other gaseous chemicals that you don't want on your pot.

Plus it's a one time, quick release of a lot of CO2, but if you have adequate airflow, it'll all be blown out in about 10-30 minutes or less.

  3. i was going to get a reflector that had an air vent flange so i wouldnt be venting the room just the reflector where all the heat is anyway, so its not like itll just get blown out by a fan

sounds good on paper but i would want to know all the side effects if any of the chemical reaction, some one should do a test on this i would need to see it done before i did that in my grow room, right now i get these tablets at the hydro store they sell 5 for $20 and you use it every other day by heating up some water then drop the tablet and set it in the grow room and it works really well and is pretty inexpensive, since i only use it 8 weeks in flowering in my experience co2 has worked wonders on my crop has increased growth rates and yield vs. crops i have not use co2 on and as long as you grow in a sealed room the co2 wont vent out unless your hoods are air cooled without glass and you have an exhaust fan exiting the room then you will vent the co2 out or if you have a/c vents in the room that are open

  5. Mixing baking soda and vinegar does not release much CO2, certainly not enough to make any difference to your plants. And as stated earlier, if you have good airflow (and you should) then any form of CO2 supplementation will just go right up the exhaust pipe. To supplement with CO2 you need an air-cooled hood on your light so that you can shut down the ventilation in the grow space for select periods while you super-saturate with CO2.

Or, just provide a lot of constant air ventilation -- moving a lot of air across the leaves will expose them to more CO2.
