Watering ?

  1. :confused:So my seeds have sprouted and i'm not to sure how much water to give them from now till mature. Does it go by the size of the plant? How dry the dirt is? Also I found 1 forum that said they need to be watered 3 times a day and other forums suggest once a day or every other day depending on how damp your soil is. And when I start using nutes is it the amount of water they need + Nutes / or is it the water and nutes combined amount = feed. I'm alittle confused any help would be great!

You can judge by the weight of your container; dry soil verse wet. When the pot becomes light again you know its time to water maybe only a 1/4 (if that) of the container size. Also keep them moist every couple hours with a mist you cant really mist them to much during germ or veg. The roots structure grows in search of water so if the soil is drenched the roots will not grow as readily.

  3. obviously the smaller the plant, the less water it needs. seedlings will actually show slow growth with too much water so be mindful. give enough water so that the soil will be relatively dry within the day. not too dry, and definetely not soaked. i prefer to spray seedlings around the base of the stem until its strenghtens itself up.

as the plants get bigger, yes, they will need more water. i like to get a feel for the weight of the plant and pot when dry and when watered. when its almost bone dry, i water again. i aim to water every 2 days with mature plants.

balance not too dry with not too wet and all will be good.

keep blazing and KEEP IT SIMPLE.......good luck

  4. Unless you planted in pure perlite you will almost definitely not need to water your plant more than once a day. I water my plants that are in 3 gallons of soil once every 5 days. How big is the pot and what is your soil? Before I transplanted into the pots they were in little styrofoam cups. Even those I only had to water about every other day. The roots don't want to constantly be wet they need to go through a wet to semi dry cycle. They need to be able to breath. Keep this in mind, newbies usually overwater rather than underwater.

  5. I have them in small plastic cups of FFOF. how long should i wait to move them to bigger containers? Also can I just put them in 5gal containers right after seedling? just so that I dont have to buy containers in so many different sizes? or is there a reason I have to switch between so many containers?

  6. Transplanting into other containers before the final pot is optional. Some people prefer doing that because they say it helps the plant form a root ball rather than spreading roots thin. Personally, I just went from styrofoam cup to final pot. I would transplant when it has it's third set of true leaves or when you can see roots starting to poke through the cup's drain holes.
