Watering?

  1. So uhhh I had 2 plants in a 5 gallon, and probably a 3 gallon, I give each plant 1 gallon of water a day.

    I just put a 3rd plant in a 5 gallon, so 2 5 gallon plants, and a 3 gallon plant.

I now give them 2 gallons of water, between all three, so like 2/3 of a gallon each......

I have to fill up milk jugs in a river, and carry them to grow spot.... which would be hard to cary more, since both my hands are full of milk jugs.....

    Are they getting enough wateR?

  2. MJ is an amzing plant. Once you have grown for 5-10 years I find you can "read" the plant. She will tell you whats wrong you just have to look at her. I wouldent recommend watering everyday as that may result in root rot! if the pots are still wet from the day before dont water them let them dry out. I am only recommending that because as you have stated you see them everyday.

Remember, to much water is a bad thing.

  3. Yeah... the question I think I might of been asking was....

How much water, each water... like 2/3 of a gallon for a 5 gallon pot.......

    is 2/3 of gallon enough

  4. Stick ur finger in the soil about 2 inches below the surface and if it is dry then u should water if it is damp then u should wait till it is dry to water again. That is the general guideline.

  5. Depends on your climate.

If I don´t water every 24 my ladies are bone dry and wilting by 36.

  6. Thats why you test the soil to see if it holds water well or if it drys up. Like I said stick ur finger in the soil and if it is dry the next day then water it and try to figure out how long it takes for the soil to dry up then there ya go thats how often u need to water it. Its not good for the soil to be constantly wet without drying up or u might get root rot like Lots said.

  7. They sell water sticks at any greenhouse. It tells you if your plant needs water and how much. For instance. If it is at the bottom of the stick you water until the green line apears at the dont water level. You only can't get water on the stick. My brother has used these sticks for a couple years and he has had great success with his plants not dying.
