I'm struggling with the ph of my tap water. My ph is about 7 and I want it to be a 6-6.5. I have ph up and down but I'm clueless on how I would measure my water. I was thinking about just filling a 5 gallon bucket with tap and then letting it sit for a day to evaporate any chlorine then adjusting the ph level by using 5 times the one gallon amount. Any suggestions on watering because I'm kind of lost.
So if you're in soil (if I remember correctly), 6.5 is your target. Big batch water is a good approach because it makes things easier dosage wise . So use down as recommended. Hit your 6.5, let it sit for 24 hours, see if it changes again (it will) adjust again accordingly back to 6.5, wait another hour or so after mixing and do a final test. After one or two of those you'll be able to hit it on the first go round automatically taking that 24 hour change into consideration , but that 24 hour wait is important both to let chlorine dissipate along with dissolved gasses. Not everyone goes through all this trouble, but it helps nail your numbers. Eventually you'll have the timing down to hit your watering schedule. Be kind. Perfect your craft. Give more than you take. How often will I be watering my plants. Should I have more than one phed 5 gallon bucket on hand? I will only be cultivating two plants.
The frequency and quantity will change as your plants age and by how many you have, not to mention the environment. Unfortunately you'll have to figure that out as you go. For four plants at peak watering I was using about 4-5 gal per week, but in 3 gallon pots. Early on a single gallon would last a week. Everyone's grow will have different water requirements. Be kind. Yeah I only plan on having 2 but in 5 gallon pots. Do u recommend any particular nutes for the veg stage
I use general hydriponics tri-force of goodness. It mixes differently for each stage of the plants. Many here use Fox Farms. Anything concentrated and designed for herb should be fine. Be kind. Perfect your craft. Give more than you take. We are family.
I am going to be using root organics Buddha grow and FF big bloom. I think the Buddha is for the veg stage
Fair enough! I didn't on either of my outdoors, but rainwater tends to fall mid 5s in my area . Still produced fantastic buds. Only started with 1st indoor. Better buds? Yes. But started with far better seeds and much better lighting. To each their own. Be kind. Perfect your craft. Give more than you take. We are family.
I truly think ph water is for hydro and possibly coco If you are growing in soil I don't believe you need to ph your water. I know several people who grow soil and never ph their water.
Viking does make a good point here. Remember that the zone extends more or less between 6 and 7. Don't over think it, especially on a first run. Make note of what you do and how the plant responds occasionally in a log and tweak it down the road. This is a journey. The simple walkthrough I used to get started didn't even mention adjusting water pH. I like the science of it personally so I dig on that aspect. And I'm a perfectionist so if I can hit optimal numbers, I'm going to take a whack at it. Now if my water is 6.4 to 6.8 I'm happy. P.S. Perfect pH by the books? You actually go up and down every other watering as the target zone is wide and optimal for some things on either end. To me that sounds too much like...work. I have other things to worry about.
